Salopettes for short-arses like me?!

Hi everyone, going skiing for the first time. Am size 10-12 but only 5'1''. Salopettes are sooo long any advice please?
Also any skiwear I try and find like jackets where I can put a layer or 2 underneath seem to have to be a M or L! Nothing seem remotely flattering! Any ideas gratefully received! Thanks!

Try decathlon, their kids ranges have a pull tape in the leg to shorten them and the older kids sizes would probably fit (the adults may even have the same).
I've never needed a jacket under my ski jacket but I now take a down jacket just in case that day comes, barely any bulk to it

a lot of people on a previous thread like this said that they bought a pair of regular Salopettes and then shortened them themselves or took them to a dressmaker. all the best x

Hi! Thank you both. I tried on teh decathlon ones today and my husband just laughed - and pointed out that the inner ealstic was in the wrong place.
Sleep - I was wondering if that would work actually - but wasn't sure with all the fussy bits/ zips etc that seem to be at the bottom of the leg. I think Mountain Warehouse have some Short ones so that will be my next port of call!

I’ve shortened ski pants to fit my shortarse legs, it can be done without much fuss.

I don’t really like salopette because they are a nightmare when you need to go for a pee and you have to get everything off to lower your pants instead of just opening your jacket.
Decathlon’s ski gear is super cheap but not flattering at all. Try to buy in the kids section for the girl 16 year range.

I found some dare2be ones in shorter length for my trip I’ve just been on - perfect once the ski boots were on

Newname9 · 05/01/2019 21:23

I’m 5”1 by the way x

Poivre Blanc do a short leg but they come up very small (I’m usually a 10 in sportswear but had to buy a 12).

I’m 5’1 and size 10 too. I’ve never really had this problem. I’ve got some fitted pants from Salomon (they do different lengths) which fit really well and some old Burton ones which come up big (go down a size) but not especially long.
Have a look at Schoffol for jackets. I wear a base layer, jumper and fleece (don’t like being cold!!) but still doesn’t look too bulky.
I don’t see how you could shorten ski pants tbh. What about the elastic inner bit that goes over the boot?

Ooh there’s a special online shop. I got dare2be ones. I’ll try to find the website. It’s called something like skiwear for short people 😂

museumum · 10/01/2019 22:21

Here you go, www.theshortskishop.com

I’m the same size as you and have also struggled with this. I finally bought a pair of Columbia salopettes as they do Short as well as Regular lengths.

Tog24 also do short length, buy online or there are outlet shops all over the place. I thought their gear was quite flattering. Quality was nice with snow skirt inside jacket etc.
