It does thank you! Are you based in Les Gets? We were thinking of a pre Xmas break to PdS but note Les Gets not due to open until 22 Dec . We have GVA flights for 19-22 Dec and were keen to try Les Gets to chevk out for a extended family break next season. Any advice ? Will we still be able to access open pistes from Les Gets?!

Les Gets is really low so they don’t open till late as may not be any snow. Avoizas is higher more chance of Xmas snow. Prior to last season it’s been rather muddy I think with green slopes at les gets pre-Xmas. Great place though we’ve been couple of times with young children and loved it.

I am based in Les gets year around. It is true that there were a few years with minimal snow at christmas but the slopes have been open. Avoriaz is higher so more snow sure but also rocky so you need more coverage if you don't want ruined skis....Les Gets will be open at the weekends from the 24/11, a partial opening from the 15th December and then full opening from the 22nd. It''s a tough one anywhere at that time to be honest with you, the only year that Les Gets was really struggling to open though was when there was no snow in the Alps, so Avoriaz was open but people were bussing in from all the resorts around and they were only letting people with PdS or Les Gets/Morzine tickets ski.

In a nutshell.... You need to go really high to be sure of off piste snow at Christmas in France, but when you go high it's a bit more of an arse to get to for a three day trip.
