Looking at a Feb half term trip to La Plagne. Anyone done that recently who can tell me if it's horribly busy, of just busy busy.

Thinking I might not put kids in to ski school as both are strong skiers and that means we could avoid ski school crowds?

Words of wisdom welcome!!

Oh god we went and frankly, never again. The queues to cross through Belle Plagne were awful. Personally i'd give it a miss

Ah no words of wisdom at al, but saw la plagne and it brought back memories of going skiing with my ddad there when I was 13, just me and him. He’s in a nursing home riddled with late stage dementia now, I wish he could remember it, it was a lovely holiday and the only time we ever did anytgylike that. Sorry to highjack, thanks for the memory Smile

Ken - lovely memory. I'm working on making the Alps full of lovely memories for my kids

Don'tcallmethat - ouch... how long ago? Any chance it's improved?!

Dontcallmethat - where would you recommend for Feb half term? DCs will be 10 & 12 and are good skiers. We've done term time / Easter / New Year up to now, however next year needs to be Feb half term.

Usually go to big French resorts - purely for the mileage available. Open to other options though

We were in La Rosiere at Feb half term and it was fine. A bit busy at 10 and 2 when ski schools first go out - but fine after that - queues not even that bad max 10 mins. We were down at the Les Eucherts end. You can go up the lifts at this end and ski down to the centre.

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 15/04/2018 22:23

I'd go to the Dolomites, Baqueira Beret or Norway

In fairness I think the La Plagne layout creates a bottle neck. I was there March 17 and no changes to the lifts from when we did half term 4 years earlier.

We were there this feb half term (wales week rather than England). It was busy but it wasn’t terrible.

When are English / Wales / Scotland half terms next year? I'm looking at flying our Sat 9th Feb

Also, how do I fund out when French school hols are?

French holidays run over several weeks in various areas. Not sure where to check

Haven’t looked at the dates for next year but they should all be available online. I think this was the first year the Feb half term dates differed.
I think end of January is pretty quiet and then the French holidays run for 3 weeksish
