Planning ahead to next year trying to put together a cheap ski holiday for me and DD who’ll be 7 coming up 8 this time next year. Looking for suggestions of resorts with reasonably priced accommodation.

What's the budget?
Look at Pierre et vacances or similar for self catering deals. But it wont be cheap cheap unless you have own car and can buy food at big supermarket outside resort...or eat only pasta.

MY friend stayed at a youth hostel in Grindelwald and liked it. I think Swiss resorts have more hostels vs France. www.youthhostel.ch/en/

I took DD to Pamporovo in Bulgaria for her first ski holiday. It was fine for a beginner, although a long trek from the airport. Very cheap accomodation available, great english speaking instructors and family friendly. Booked flights, a hotel apartment and a ski package (lift pass, 4 hours a day instructions and equipment) separately. I think the apartment was about £300 for the week in a ski-in/out complex with pool, spa etc but you can get far cheaper. Look on booking.com, the earlier you book flights and acommodation the better. We had a great week and met an amazing group of people. DD was about your son's age and was skiing 6km runs confidently by day 3. Meals and drinks are great value compared to france etc. so no problems eating out on the slope. We also had an impromptu trip to Ponia Brasov in Romania last year which was fun but smaller.
