Where to go first week in April?
We've been to Les Coches, Plan Peisey and La Rossiere. Don't really want to go back altogether would revisit La Rosière if I could find a catered chalet to fit 13 (6 adults and 6 children).
Many thanks

I'd go high myself. Tignes, Cervinia, val d'isere, val thorens. But I'm fussy about having some snow above the melt line.

Eggandchipsfortea93 · 21/07/2017 21:33

I'd check v carefully when the slopes you want are closing, not just whether there's likely to be snow. We went to a v popular ski resort, bookeba week of instruction, then found when we arrived that all the slopes closed the next day. There was loads of snow, and the ski school had, like us, just assumed they were open til at least easter, but they weren't! 2 days skiing was all we could get.

We went to Val D'Isere in April this year, the snow was brilliant as was the skiing!

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 22/07/2017 21:34

All the above are open, I've been to all in April

SkiYesPlease · 23/07/2017 20:37

Les Arcs, we went for the last week of the season and there was still plenty of skiing.

cathyandclare · 23/07/2017 20:45

Stay high, we once went to Peisey at Easter and there were spring flowers and marmots gambolling all over the slope to the village! rThere was snow at 2000 though.

As PP said, we usually go to Tignes, Val d'Isere, Cervinia or val Thorens, especially if Easter is late.

If you want good snow, skiing into May is better

Loopy9 · 25/07/2017 14:13

Brilliant, will look at Tignes and Val d'isere havent heard of Cervinia will take a look too. Can't do May though as it needs to be Easter hols.

I mean if the snow lasts til May, April will be good. .. responding to the above post about being 'open' mid April.

Obergurgl in Austria? It's high I believe and family friendly.

Bitchfromhell · 26/07/2017 17:58

Obergurgl is lovely. Passo Tonale has a glacier and is high. They get good snow at both fairly late on. Passo is good for beginners and kids too if that's helpful and its amazingly cheap.
