Esprit Ski, a 4yo and 1 parent

DH is currently dithering over whether or not to book a ski trip with Esprit Ski for just him and DS next January.
DS would be 4.2. It's in Val Disere (sorry, bad spelling there but hopefully makes sense ). DH's idea would be that he and DS would ski together in the mornings-DH is a good skier- then DS would have ski lessons in the afternoon whilst DH skis.
Has anyone done something similar? DS could go in the crèche in the mornings if he didn't want to ski but obviously that wouldn't be ideal.

I think I'd go a bit later when it's warmer myself.

At 4yrs all day skiing prob be too much. Our eldest at 4.5yrs loved skiing took to it brill but 3hrs was enough. Our second child tried at 4.3yrs just didn't get it at all could barely stand on skis by the end of the week but loved the snow games etc they played in the French "ski crèche". The second year aged 5.3yrs she got it with in 3days was belting snowplough straight down blue runs with massive smile on her face. So be prepared for "plan B" if DS doesn't "get it" the first time.

My advice would be to book Ds into the group lessons. He won't be able to do anymore that shuffle round the snow garden, maybe some basic, short snow ploughing. He will be better in a group lesson with other kids and an instructor used to teaching kids.

I've stayed with esprit at val d'isere quite a few times, so if you have any questions shout.

Snow ranger always stays with the kids in lessons.

And then I would use the crèche for the other half of the day, they go out bum boarding and stuff. Take swim stuff.....good pool at Val and you get one free entry with your ski pass.

Book the little one into ski school. Generally they start at 10am, break for lunch at 12pm for an hour and then ski from 1pm till 3pm.
Our children love it. They have fun with the other little ones that they meet and the instructors are great. Also great value for money.
I’m not sure if you can book afternoon ski school only though, if your DH wants to ski with DS in the mornings. Maybe check that out first

Works better when the kids do ski school mornings and then the parents ski. Then afternoons free for skiing together or other activities if too tired. In my view.

January a bit cold and can be white-out in Val I think. Why not March?

With Esprit the Spritelet beginner lessons are usually in the afternoon when it tends to be a bit warmer so that would work in with his plan. I would highly recommend their lessons too as the ratios are good and they have the added bonus of a snow ranger to wipes noses, do toilet trip, give snack etc. I agree with going later in the season if you can.
