Christmas 2017 - where to go (quite a few criteria!)?

We're looking to go away next Christmas, it's a family group so lots of different requirements. We're previously been to Morzine, but their poor snow record at Christmas and the addition of a younger family member means that we're having a rethink.

Criteria are:
Good snow record at Christmas over the past few years.
Catered chalet for 12 people. Preferably 6 or 7 bedrooms, sole occupancy.
Not a purpose built resort - plenty going on for non skiing grandparents.
Central to town centre - no bus rides.
Easy access to lifts for skiers bus ride is fine as long as close to bus stop.
Ski school for 4 year old first timer within very easy walking distance (preferably no lift to access).
Not longer than 2 1/2 hour transfer - we can fly from Bristol, Cardiff or Birmingham.

Any ideas for resorts or specific accomodation would be gratefully received.

Tricky.... The last three years have been poor at Christmas, all over the alps, this year being the worst so far. Val D'Isere / Tignes, Val Thorens (not a 'real town') or Saas Fee might worth considering. Food for thought on this site.

Choose a high resort, the season is becoming more and more unpredictable. Saas Fee is wonderful and snow sure, but the strong swiss franc makes it expensive.

It would be easy if we didn't have the two extremes to cater for. Being very close to ski school for the 4 year old and a good sized town to browse and cleared walks etc for the oldies is a challenge.

Have you considered Zermatt? Can fly Bristol to Geneva

Can't find any chalets in Zermatt that don't need a substantial lottery win to hire for a week!

We're away with Esprit at the moment and they take the little ones to their lessons - in a minibus here - if it's a bit far. Would that work?

No it wouldn't really. The parents will want to go with the 4 year old.
