Where to ski young family end December ? Avoriaz/Morzine? For

Hi. Please advise. We are younf family with 2 chikdren 7 and 5 yo. Looked at Avoriaz...but we would arrive Monday, not Saturday...so i czn see a lotnof hotels fo ftom saturday. Appartments and rooms- difficult to find availability.

There are companies that are offering flexible arrival dates over Xmas and New Year. Have a look at www.ernalow.co.uk and search on their website. They definitely have some apartments in Avoriaz on the 24th Dec or 31st for 7 nights. If you can't make it work call them on 0207 584 2841 and happy skiing.

Skiweekends.com do flexible day holidays. We love their budget chalet Les Gourmets in Morzine. It is comfy but not stylish, family rooms available, food OK, location amazing!! When the kids were smaller we would hire a day nanny on at least one day so we could have an adult day on the mountain and they could have a fun rest day.

AirBnB is worth looking at, if you want flexibility over start and leave dates.

However, one thing to be careful of at the beginning and end of the season is whether there will be snow - and for that reason we tend to go for higher resorts - or you can always just book late when you can check that there is a good base.

Somewhere like Val Thorens might be worth checking out..

Chalets direct.com solutions room might be worth a try...

Morzine is a bit low down iirc. If you're young in December pick somewhere higher just incase the season doesn't get off to a good start.

Tignes? Val disere? La plagne? Les arcs? Avoriaz also high so could be good.

Val and Tignes are together, so are les Arc and La plagne. They are both relatively near each other, but Les arc is further down the valley so you get there first

I wouldn't go for less than 7 days if driving.

You could look at times for the snow train maybe? Never used it myself. Iirc it has some sort of direct link to Les Arcs.

Yes Bourg St Maurice has a funicular railway up to les Arc
