I am thinking of booking skiing holiday to Andora, Arinsal - 5 of us , kids 5,8,9Y. First time skiers. Anyone been and have advice? Is there anything to do other than skiing? Also it is self catering (last minute deal, I would have preferred all-in. Is having to prepare all those meals as usual, going to spoil holiday?

OK i worked 3 seasons in arinsal. Brill for kids. was going to introduce our DC to skiing there this year. but decided on somewhere different. Food is cheap, drinks are cheap, incredibly friendly locals. mainly ossie, SA, NZ etc (travelling types). At night its very much apres ski, and lots of Drunks. wouldn't really venture out after 8 or 9 with children on Mon at its norm bar crawl. Iceskating near encamp(if you have a car) swimming in the Solana hotel. torchlight decents, tobog evening. Sure theres more . will Have a think

Oh and some serious shopping can be done in Andorra la Vella (the capital). Duty free, lots of nice shops, also Caldea, a Spa.

I went there in 2001 had a fantastic time - although it was in my pre-DS days from the number of children tath were there I think that it is fair for me to say that the slopes are good for families, also tax free shopping is nearby, great fondue restaurant in Arinsal itself.
