Ski socks with hard shin protection

I had a pair of these ages ago and don't know where to get them now. They had the same elastication round the ankles as "normal" ski socks but the shin padding was not just thick; it was like a hard shin pad built in.

Can anyone advise where to get some? My shins bruise really easily these days. Or if not, what are your best ever ski socks, that might help my very sensitive legs?!

better fitting ski boots?... I'm not trying to be a smart arse, but my old boots hurt, my new boots are like slippers. Try finding some boots if that's possible. ... that or a friend has put sanitary pads in some rental boots of hers that were really painful

You can get football socks with built-in shin pads - flexible plastic panels - but you'd need to be sure that they didn't create painful pressure points inside ski boots.

Oh interesting - thanks! It's really hard to get ski boots to fit (hiring) so maybe that is what I need to sort. I have very high insteps and practically dislocate my knees getting some of them on. Perhaps I do need to take a deep breath and work this out by splashing some cash but I have no idea where to start.

Although I'll definitely check out football socks. I just bruise like crazy and these hard socks have worked well before...

I've just caught up with this and would highly recommend getting ski boots fitted out on the slopes rather than in the UK. I had to throw a pair of boots because they were fitted really badly in the UK and caused a lot of pain.

If you happen to be going to three valleys - I highly recommend the Boot Lab... They sorted out my feet which is a minor miracle.

I'd also go for having boots fitted. I did this after having one week where my shins were in agony. No problems ever since.

I can't begin to think of the cost but probably worth it to avoid a week of pain and extensive bruising...
