Found a good half term option here but bit concerned it might be a bit dead. Anyone know how easy it is to get to samoens on the bus? Any experience of the ski school for 7yo and 5yo who have done 4 weeks'/1 week's skiing already?

You need to check if the accommodation you are looking at is in Morillon Les Esserts 1100 (foot of the slopes) or in Morillon village. I think there is a daytime ski bus between Samoens and Morillon village but I don't know if there is an evening service. We haven't used the ski school there but the slopes in Morillon would be perfect for your children, and better than the Samoens slopes. I have not stayed in Morillon itself so am not sure what there is in terms of apres ski. I suspect it is quiet in the evenings.

Thanks! It is actually between the two Morillon resorts, not sure it that's a good or bad thing. Not too worried about getting to Samoens in the evening but would be good to have day-trip options for whoever's landed with the childcare in the afternoons.

We've stayed in both Morillon Village and Les Esserts. This year will be our 4th visit and we find staying les Esserts is much easier for dropping off at ski school. Our children are 8,6 and 4 and youngest started ski school last year at 3.
Had private ESF lessons for 2hrs every morning. Very reasonably priced.
Children have always been happy in the afternoons sledging, but more
Skiing and having hot chocolates.

I was just going to wonder why they wouldn't ski in the afternoon too? Mine would ski all day at that age; nothing to vigorous, but after a long lunch break back out for another 3 hours.

Don't and Blueberry, agree, yes to skiing in the afternoon, nothing too vigorous, but love skiing altogether and stopping off for vin chaud breaks (for us) and some snow ball fights !!

Actually got gear out of the loft yesterday and started washing and re-waterproofing !! Still got ages yet but counting down !! :)

We stayed in les esserts this year and have rebooked for march next year as we really liked it.

Ski school was ok, just standard ESF. My kids were 9 and 6 when we were there this year.

We were not bothered about the night life, but there were sufficient restaurants and bars for us, although I suspect maybe a bit quiet for some.

There is a good bus that links all the villages. It wasn't a problem to get to Samoens.

we found the lifts very very busy in the French half term, particularly the ancient slow link between Morillon and the rest of the Grand Massif. hence why we are taking the kids out of school and going in March.

Trixy, never been there, but I have been told its a good resort, another one taking out of school, we did and paid the fine !!

Going March next year and again will pay the fine :)

We're in scotland so no fines! They just say not authorised, but have a good holiday .

I've got to go and hang my head in shame in the Headteachers office tomorrow. We are missing a day due to our flights being changed! I've got a formal interview, but no fine here unless you miss 9 days.
