Closest airports are Innsbruck and Friedrichshafen. Quite a few tour operators use Innsbruck, and Ryanair fly from Stansted to Friedrichshafen - a quick check on Skyscanner suggests you can easily get flights for £50 each way or less.

From both you could get the train to near Langen im Arlberg and then take a bus/taxi.

Sorry can't recommend hotels: never stayed there.

Zurich is also accessible by train from St Anton and probably Langen but not many budget airlines go there. We stayed at the Hotel Arlberg once - which was very nice but very expensive !! Also had recommendation in this weekends's paper for the Goldener Loewe (iirc) in Oberlech. Apparently right on the slopes and accessible by its own furnicular or lift.

Friedrichshafen is the place if you can. We flew to Zurich which was a good 3 hours away.
We stayed in Oberlech, a small clusters of hotels 1/2 way up the mountain. Must say we thought Lech was a bit spoilt by the road..Oberlech is car free.

We're off to Lech next week for three nights with our six month old DD - DH is skiing with my sister and her DH, I'm taking books and chilling out! We're flying to Zurich and have hired a car as transfers were a nightmare - not the closest but the easiest and cheapest airport to get to. We're staying at the Hotel Tannbergerhoff where apparently there is very very good gluwein...
