Resort recommendation?

I'm planning a trip for DH and I, kids (5yrs and 9yrs) and my parents who would like some walking options. So, my question is where should we go?
I know Swiss resorts have good walking but it is so expensive there now I would prefer France ( my parents will drive to resort, we will fly).

Kids are total beginners and need ski school. DH and I do not.
