Feb half term skiing?

Dh and I went skiing several times pre-kids we enjoy it but we're by no means experts. Dc are now 7 and 9 and have never been. We are contemplating doing Feb half term next year either US or Europe. Not sure where to begin when it comes to family holidays. Chalets would not work as we are anti-social bods definitely not into apres ski. Looking for ideas before budget at the moment.

There are plenty of apartments you can book (check out Ski Collection) in all the main European resorts. That way you don't have to mix with anyone else if you don't want to! Eat in or out, as you feel like it. You can travel independently if you want (which in our experience is cheaper overall) or get it all organised for you.

The other thing to think about is whether Easter might be better than Feb half time. Weather is generally nicer and the slopes will be a lot less crowded which might be good for the kids' first time.

I have been several times at Easter and also had reasonable snow. Clearly picking a higher resort helps.

I have heard good things about Kinder Hotels - they have other activities for the kids so they don't have to ski all day if they find it too much. Accommodation is supposed to be decent so you don't have to compromise on the adult experience to get somewhere child friendly.

I went with friends last year in half term. They go every year but it was my return to skiing after having DS. He was a couple of weeks off of 5 & took to it brilliantly!

Look into driving to the French Alps to save money. I did last year but have decided to fly this year as frankly I can't be arsed & there's only 2 of us! DH stays home as he has poorly knees & wants to use precious holiday time on stuff he enjoys which is fair enough.

At 7&9 yours should take to it quickly. Probably need to book lessons now. We used New Generation last year & were impressed.
