Yup, booked Easter 16 before we left for our summer hols. Felt a bit crazy/organised but I knew I wouldn't be alone!

Montgenevre, debated a change of venue/timing but when our option on the chalet we had all loved came up we just couldn't resist.

Booked first family ski trip since having children - Italy over Christmas. Children don't know yet Grin

Mandy214, how lovely, how many and how old are your children, we have been going since having daughter, next year will be her 7th time !! When are you telling the children xx

10 and 6. We can't decide when to tell them - we've booked an induction lesson for them at Chill Factore so maybe once they have that and get bitten by the bug Smile. Not sure what happens if they all hate it!!

I broke my shoulder snowboarding last time we went and had to be airlifted home, then had twins the same year, and then Number 3. Never really fancied putting them in a crèche, so now Number 3 has just turned 6, we're hoping its the "right" time. Your daughter will be one of the children zooming past me lovetoskimum!

Mandy - did you manage to find a Xmas ski holiday for under £3k?? Good work!! ShockGrin
Did you DIY or book a package?

mandy214 · 06/08/2015 09:01

Yes. 6 days to Cervinia (so fingers crossed snow sure), coming home Boxing Day, but flight times mean we'll get 4.5 days at least skiing. Flights, car hire (from airport to resort) and accommodation (2 bed apartment in the centre next to lifts but 'compact') all booked for just over £1k. Have priced up (but not purchased yet) 3 x private lessons for the children (the only benefit for having 3 children - private lessons are a similar price to 3 x children in ski school!), 4.5 days ski hire and lift passes for us all another £800. So I know we have to eat and there will no doubt be additional expenses along the way, but well within the £3k at the moment, but slightly shorter than a packaged week.

Siennasun · 06/08/2015 18:03

That's a bargain! I'm taking notes for when DS starts school and term time holidays are out Smile

So, three years ago we said we were going on a one-off ski holiday and now it seems to have turned into part of our annual schedule !! We have booked to go back to Salen in Sweden, we went there last year too and loved it, it's so child-friendly, big wide pistes, bbq firepits on the mountain, no queues, lots of off-piste forest adventures for the kids, ski to door, great staff..... Also, lots of other activities to do for the kids if they get tired (they don't !) - they have a great indoor pool with big slides, a thermal pool, waverider etc which is included in the lift pass price. Plus bowling/cinemas etc. We do self-catering as we work on a bit of a budget, we have four children (3,7,9,10) and for a week in Feb half-term it comes out at about £2.5k for flights, accommodation, lift passes, ski hire and car hire (that's the disadvantage, it's a four hour transfer but easy drive) and I think you can almost get a week of 1.5 lessons out of that too (depends which accomodation you choose). I was telling a mum friend at school about it and she had a look and then ended up booking half-term too, so now we are going together ! I am really excited, we have done Avoriaz etc and French resorts pre kids but just like the extra stuff Sweden offers. I don't think I'd go over Christmas (days are very short), but from Feb-end of April, it's great :-)

lovetoskimum · 24/08/2015 14:58

helenwilson, love that, we said that this year would be our last for a while as want a summer holiday and cant afford both, but hey ho, booked 2016 within a week of being back !!

Keep them coming :)
