Warmest ever gloves?

I stupidly chose a pair of gloves solely because they matched my jacket Blush. I've tried thermal liners with them but they don't really work.

Can anyone advise the best make for me? Not a fan of mittens.

When I was researching children's gloves Hestra (£ouch) and Barts (£less ouch) were very highly recommended.

That said, I've been through a few pairs over the years and the best by far are an ancient pair by a brand called 'Phoenix'. I have no idea why they're so great, something to do with the sizing maybe? They're a prefect fit. Anyway, I shall be reproofing them in the hope of getting another year's skiing from them.

One last thing, are your inner gloves silk? Apparently that helps.

Tip: as I found out when looking for children's silk inner gloves, look in the cycling section for a wider range of sizes and much better prices.

Thanks Mono, the liners are thermal stretchy stuff so not silk.
Will have a look at Hestra and Barts.

My favourite gloves are North Face Montana.

My favouritest are Helly Hansen Mouse Mittens (from the kids range and often on sale in sizes to fit teen/small adult), worn with Mountain Hardwear powerstretch liner gloves.

Mittens are warmer, if cold hands are a problem for you, you may just have to get used to mittens.

I've got an ancient pair of Ami Chauds which I love. They are 'large' not 'medium' so very easy to get on and off and the extra room for warmed air inside makes them very cosy, aided by handwarmers of course. So, whatever brand you buy I would say get a size larger for a nice loose fit.

Thanks for the advice.
I've found some North Face Montana so I think I'll splurge.

Silk liner gloves (two pairs to allow you to wash one and wear one) and down filled gloves. Can't remember the brand sorry. Mitts will be warmer and with silk liners you won't get cold if you need to take it off for a minute.Smile

Have to second the Phoenix gloves. They're miles warmer than my new Black Diamond gloves.

I have some ancient, faded leather Spider gloves. Bought end of season in the sale.
