After all the stress about the lack of snow, is anyone stressing about the imminent Snowmageddon this weekend?

Safety warnings posted on the Mountain Safety website for Chamonix. Over a metre of snow and temperatures of -25 degrees, the last time that happened, there were diesel cars and minibuses stranded all over the mountains as the fuel solidified in the engines.

I am a bit, I'm in South yorks where it is forecast to snow heavily for the next 14 hours, I fly Friday am to Geneva but am hoping that Morzine/ Les Gets are more easily accessible than the 3v that had such awful problems at Christmas.
I'm doing my best to believe the Avalanche risk will be low for me as I don't do off piste.

Well, it's supposed to be snowing in Geneva today but it's raining, so hopefully less snow than predicted. I think the authorities are prepared this time though!

The danger is more likely an increased avalanche risk, ie the heavy snow on top of an unstable base. Chamonix itself is only expected to be -13 as a low at night which isn't that bad. The season is in full swing now so hopefully the roads will be kept clear etc, although emphasises the need to have chains and/or winter tyres if you're self driving.

I completely agree that the danger is likely to be the Avalanche risk which is up to 4 out of 5 this weekend, though the temperatures on the snow forecast show it not moving much from -13 for several days! I am still bearing the scars from 4 years ago where -15 plus windchill nearly had me packing the kids up and moving to Central Africa!!

Re diesel - better to plan your refuelling to buy diesel from in the region as it has a different formula/lower freeze point.

Thank you anotherday, I got there no problem, it snowed and snowed and snowed, the conditions were challenging but fun until the last day and a half which was just the best you could possibly ask for, absolute perfection and really quiet slopes / lifts too.
It was a great trip, roll on next year!!
