Kids skiing kit advise please.

We've just booked our first family ski holiday for next Christmas.
Extremely excited. DDs will be 9,7 and 2

I was hoping to keep an eye on the end of season offers this year to possibly get some bargains.

Currently the elder DDs have spotty otter and polarn o pyret ski coats which they use for school in the winter.

Will these be sufficient quality? (obergurgle Christmas week)
I want them to be warm enough to enjoy their time. Would hate to put them off by being too cold.

Have had an offer of a boden ski coat. Any opinions? Was worried it might be more of a fashion piece than truly warm enough.

Layers make a bigger difference than one thick coat I think. We took dc2 at 4 and she wore long sleeved base layer, trespass fleece and then trespass ski jacket (so not expensive) on top, and base layer with ski trousers on the bottom, and wasn't cold at all. I'd recommend some easy open waterproof mittens for the youngest as we struggled getting gloves and some mittens on.

Just realised your not going until next christmas-watch out for aldi and lidl ski event. We got all our base layers, older dc's gloves, ski goggles and other bits and pieces for bargain prices, really surprised by the good quality.

Yep, spotty otter and P.O.P make great gear and warm enough. Do they both have snow skirts? We only have a one piece in spotty otter but our pop ski coat def has a snow skirt.

Yes agree that Aldi stuff is great and very good value for kids set of salopettes and jacket for about £25. You need to keep an eye out though and go on the day it is released.

They should be OK, but make sure you layer!

Also, good quality socks and gloves are worth spending more on.

The POP coat has a snow skirt, spotty otter one doesn't, will bear that in mind when shopping for their school coats next winter.

They have fairly expensive waterproof muddy puddles gloves, I figured they'd need a few pairs each to allow drying etc, so will get more similar. And will keep an eye out for Aldi/tk maxx

Decathlon is a good place to buy basics like thermals and gloves.

Make sure you buy goggles which fit well over a helmet but are not too big that they slip or leave gaps. They don't need to be expensive ones though. Agree that lots of layers is more important than one big coat. Remember to waterproof the ski kit before you go if it is old.
