transfers from geneva

we are doing independent travel and need to arrange a transfer to the resort 30 k m away - grand bornard I think its called. Ive heard you can be ripped off for transfers, anyone got any experience?

Where exactly are you going ? Can you get the train or a Postbus nearer to it then a taxi perhaps ?

or try the town's web site for how to get there.

Think you may mean here . Train to Annecy and connecting bus ? There are some links there which may give you a winter timetable.

I'vespent a lot of time at Geneva airport,and rented a car one Christmas.It was hell on earth.

Go public transport if poss.

To be honest moondog, we've used hire cars from Geneva on a number of occasions, and never had any problems.

Except when I dropped the keys down the crack in the lift as we were going to find the car

Does anyone know if the easyjet flight to Geneva lands in the swiss or French section. Think it's the swiss, but would like to be sure. From memory it's a nightmare if fly in and out of one side and rent a car from the other! Emailed easyjet for this info as couldn't find it on their website but heard nothing back!

Upon arrival at Geneva International Airport, passengers holding a Schengen visa for France (European Union) can enter France overland via the "French sector" without having to transit via Switzerland ? irrespective of the airline or the airport of origin concerned (including transit airports).

We have done independant to le Grand Bornand a couple of times and it is so close & a lovely place.

Also we went to Annecy last October. We flew Easyjet to the Swiss side, then walked through and hired a car from the French side, even though the brochure tells you not to. It is cheaper I think, but they don't guarantee a vignette for the autoroutes so you may need to navigate across Geneva. Ours had one on and I think it depends if a previous hirer has bought one.

On the return what joy! return to the French side, no queues and an Easyjet check in desk to ourselves, and you then just walk through.

There is a very reasonable bus service to Le Grand Bornand, and also a good taxi company called taxi Bastard 04 50 02 71 46.
