Stopover nr Lyon

We're driving to Alps for 1st time in Feb st malo-Courcheval and planning to break the journey nr Lyon. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced travel lodge type chain or hotel for a stopover? Need a restaurant for DC Also any idea how long Lyon -Courcheval 1850 will take (Sun am at end of UK half term)

The Mercure at l'Isle d'Abeau, just outside Lyon is ok. Has a restaurant. From there it is about 2.5 hours up into Courchevel 1850. There's also a big hypermarket at L'Isle D'Abeau if you need to stock up.

We recently stayed at Novotel Lyon Bron on our way to Les Deux Alpes. Service and food excellent and price included 2 course supper and delicious breakfast :)
2 hrs up the mountain the following morning.

Not the Lyon route but we stopped in Annecy en route to Meribel which was fab.
