If you go and there's no snow, what happens?

Friends have booked to go next week but have no snow yet - has anyone experienced this, do you get bussed to another resort?

Probably not. Depends on who they have gone with and their typical level of service; high end caterers may bother, many won't. It's the luck of the draw in many cases.

Tough tit. It's not covered in the insurance !

Where are they going that has no snow yet? From what I've heard the alps has had a pretty good base of snow.

I know people who this happened to. They were with Esprit and Esprit bussed them every day to another resort. Guess it depends on your tour operator.

Usually the tour operator will bus them to nearest open resort, if they operate a snow guarantee. if they have booked it independently then it is their risk and they have to do so themselves . Most reasonably high resorts have some snow, there was some down to less than 1000m 2 weeks ago, so would be unusual not to have any lifts open now.

Where are they going?

Think there's a big storm forecast for Christmas Day.

But for future reference, if you're planning on the Alps at Christmas/New Year, book high altitude (with lots of snow cannons)

We are just back from Zell Am Zee and the snow situation was a bit dodgy. I checked my insurance and it said if we couldn't ski through lack of snow we would be bussed by out tour operator to another resort. As it happens we didn't need to as we had plenty of snow and five and a half days of beautiful sunshine.
