Hi - we are looking to go skiing in January with our 6 y/o who can ski and our 2 year old so looking for an easy resort with greens and magic carpets and also lots of non-ski activities i.e, swimming pool, bowling, ice rink etc for me and little one to do. We went to Morzine 2 years ago and it was perfect but fancy a change as the world is a big place ! Any suggestions would be brilliant as my head is spinning with looking at places. Thank you.

We loved Samoens, very pretty little town. Not sure about the swimming pool but even up on the mountain there was loads to keep our 2yo happy like sledging, inflatable play park and face painting!

We went to the Kinderhotel Post in Unken in January this year and I would higly recommend it!

Nice ski slopes nearby with free buses to and from, excellent food, brilliant ski school for all ages of children and the child care was really good (9am til 8pm - if you wanted it). Indoor swimming pool, cinema, spa, pony rides, walking groups, indoor soft play, magic show for the kids (and big kids too).

All the nannies spoke good english as did the hotel staff. And they were generally very accommodating and helpful, collected us from Salzburg airport and returned us (packed lunches for our day of departure).

This was my husbands review on tripadvisor

Hope this helps!

We've been skiing twice with our DC - Les Gets last year (next door to Morzine, but a great resort for families), and Les Carroz (part of the Grand Massif), this year. I much preferred Les Gets - just a bigger town, lots of restaurants, two supermarkets, some reasonable nightlife/bars. Given the choice, I'd go back there. Having said that, this year we're going to Austria with a family ski specialist, because we fancy a change.

I know Avoriaz is in the same area however they have the new swimming complex Aquariaz which might tempt you. Arc 1950 also excellent with free activities for the kids and several pools and hot tubs. We went to Val Thorens last year with 4 and 2 year old. They have a special area in the sports centre with bouncy castles etc that our kids loved...and if you are feeling brave enough there is a 6km sledging run. There is also a great creche that the little one loved. We went in Jan and were lucky with the weather so it was all good. Let me know if you have any other questions. Smile

We love Morzine, but friends like arc 1950.

Where are you going sukiyaki, and with which company?

Alpe D'Huez has an outdoor swimming pool (heated!), which is quite fun, and a sports centre and ice rink. There are three magic carpets in the main ski area (Grande Rousses) and it's got a good reputation for beginners.

You might want to take a look at a website of a family ski specialist (like Esprit Ski) as they give resort descriptions that are geared towards families (e.g. what there is to do other than ski-ing and how many magic carpets there are)
