Great conditions up Cairngorm!

Was up today and it was fantastic. First time I've ever skied powder (Mind you seeing as I've only ever skied in Scotland it was just about the first time I've ever skied snow, not ice or crud )

Actually I've decided to ask for this thread to be deleted because if I tell everyone how amazing Cairngorm is at the moment then I might actually have to queue for the lifts

You are making me jealous, I was hoping to go up this week but couldn't fit it in. Will try again next week.

I think the weather is looking good for next week too, and the snow is going nowhere at the moment :)

Glenshee was great today too! Full area open, very few queues, no wind and some sunshine! Loved it

Never been to Glenshee, but would love to go. I've heard it's really good for cruisy blue runs? How was the snow?

Just a shame it costs so much to go to other resorts, even with our discount having the Cairngorm season pass in adds up when there are 5 of us skiing.

We went skiing on Tuesday in Aviemore and it was lovely. Started sunny, turned a little cloudy but the sun came out again and we had a great time. It was almost as good as Austria. When we came through the Lecht the slopes looked well groomed and very empty. If you have a pass for Aviemore you don't want to go to Glenshee, you will be very disappointed.

We were there Tuesday too, just for the morning - we left just as the sun was coming out. It was fantastic.

We were up again yesterday and it was even better - we were there early and making fresh tracks again we left just as the sun was coming out...

I love the Lecht - I used to be a bit intimidated by Cairngorm when I was a beginner. Maybe not worth the trip to Glenshee then.

The White Lady was just amazing yesterday - I've only ever skied it in horrible lumpy hard packed snow and ice (if you can call how I got the the bottom actually skiing ) and powder which was good fun - so yesterday was a revelation.

I've been at Cairngorm this week too, it's amazing. And, because all runs and lifts are open, it doesn't feel that busy despite both car parks being full. I guess it's because everyone is spread out across the entire mountain. I've never seen conditions like it at this time of year and it's been snowing most of the day in Aviemore today so that should mean a nice top-up up the hill. I'm hoping to get up for at least another day before we head home.

Wallace I really like Glenshee because you can do some really nice long runs linking up the different lifts across the glens. And the Bunny Run along the top ridge of the Cairnwell is a really easy green run with the most spectacular views as far as the Lomonds in Fife and a grandstand view of the Southern Cairngorms. Probably my No 1 favourite run in Scotland, not technical or difficult but very enjoyable!

Maybe Glenshee does sound good for me - I do enjoy skiing that doesn't make me feel I have to be challenging myself :)

I have withdrawal symptoms, I haven't been skiing since Friday :( If it wasn't for 2 year old ds3 I would be up a lot more often (not that I am complaining - we are lucky enough to live within 20 miles of Cairngorm)

Wallace give it a go, I always feel that I've had a lovely relaxing day when I've been to Glenshee as it's 'comfortable' skiing for me, pootling about as I do on the greens and blues. Plus there are chairlifts for a wee sit down when you need it! I tend to spend the last hour of the day doing circuits using the Sunnyside chair - excellent when you are pooped!

Sounds lovely - I'm sure I could ski for a lot longer if it wasn't for the drag lifts!
