Hi, Please can ask for your thoughts if you've more experience than me? After holding out for many years I've finally booked to take the DCs skiing. I have been a few times pre-DC but never with them. I've held out this long as we cant really afford it and especially not with wrap around childcare, its a DIY trip- Easy jet and guesthouse in Austria for Feb half term. I need to book ski school but I just cant decide whether to book 2 hours or 4 hours. DC's are 9,10 and 13. 2 hours is not much time for me to ski but 4 hours is pretty much the whole day and might be too much, also it doesn't leave much time for swimming/tobogganing etc or skiing together. Has anyone any experiences or advice to share with me please? Also is it ok to skip ski school for the odd afternoon? I cant ask DH as he thinks I'm nuts to take them skiing in the first place as they are the least sporty kids ever! but thats another story...

From my experiences in Austria it is normal to have 4 hours per day ski school. My DS has been twice aged 5 and 6 and did 4 hours, we could ski together before or after and do other activities after ski school, some people do take an afternoon off. The usually do races on the last day or second last day and then a presentation.

As FB says, I think in Austria the ski schools are usually all day. DD(7) managed to cope will all day this year so I should imagine that your older 3 would be fine. And even all day still finishes at 3.30/4.00 so that will still allow plenty of time for the other fun stuff.
