Advice on Les Gets please!

I'm very close to booking a 4 day ski break over Christmas in Les Gets. We did a similar 4 day break last year to Bride Les Bains, Meribel and it worked out really well. We had great fun on our first Christmas after Exh became Ex.

Our family is me, skied for the first time in 30 odd years last year, DD, had done one previous school ski trip, DS1, good skier, DS2 intermediate. Youngest now 17.

DD now lives in France so she makes her own way there. Having experienced it all last year I realise that my plan is to have a lesson in the mornings, a little go in the afternoons and back early. DD is more get up and go and will probably do a bit more with her DB's.

What I would really like to know is what is available to "non" skiers in Les Gets? I loved the Spa in Bride last year. We wont be staying anywhere fancy, so no hotel with pool etc to entertain me

Any information or suggestions would be welcomed.

You can go hot-air ballooning, or there is an ice rink, a library, a cinema, bowling, a massage & fitness centre, a mechanical music museum, a market every Thurs morning, and brewery visits. Don't forget that in nearby Avoriaz is the amazing new Aquariaz!

Thanks, Louiseski. The museum sounds interesting. What is the Aquariaz?

A friend said to be yesterday we would be better in Morzine than Les Gets in case there is no early snow so we can get up to Avoriaz more easily.

I havent booked anything. Just feel I should wait a bit longer.....

I agree with your friend. Early season, I'd rather be near Avoriaz just in case.

I went to Les Gets when DD was 3 months old and so I barely skied, and I has a nice time. Can't remember what I did...but remember it being a nice size to wander around with some good shops and bars.

Aquariaz is the brand new water park in Avoriaz - it has flowing rivers, slides, climbing wall, water playpark for kids, all with views of the slopes as the walls are floor-to-ceiling windows!

I'd go for Morzine rather than Les Gets cause you are closer to Avoriaz and because I prefer Morzine to Les Gets.
