Half Term Ski Holiday Rip Off!!!!

Well just to stir things up a little I just had to post on here to vent some of my anger in respect of holiday prices. Been looking at ski holidays for next year half term and realised that some areas are at different weeks next year. We start ours on 9th February whereas many other places are a week later. After looking around several sites decided to try for the Esprit route (which we have done many times but prices for half term are huge). Imagine my delight to realise that they had not taken into account the different weeks and the prices for the 10th Feb were over £300 each cheaper than the later week. As we were travelling with another family I told them this morning and we decided to go ahead and book with them as it was such a good deal. Well fast forward 2 hours and this afternoon when I rang they had obviously realised their error and increased the price by over £200 each and withdrawn cashback offer and other offers for this week. After trying to tell me it was because they had a lot of bookings therefore prices change all of the time according to the market they eventually admitted that they had just realised that some areas had a different week so put up the prices today. Now if that is not the biggest money making holiday rip off I really don't know what is. Any comments will be really welcome.

What complete and utter bastards. I would tell them that unless they honour the original price advertised, then you will take your custom elsewhere and nver book with them again.
Don't suppose they'll give a monkeys, but you might feel better about it.

I assure you I said my piece. Have travelled with them on 6 previous holidays and said that I never will again if they did not stick by price and basically they don't care. Sure some other mug will pay the price with out even realising what they have done.

Pretty incompetent of them not to have figured this out before, but since they didn't they should have honoured the previous prices. Disgusting

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 08/03/2012 17:09

In fact I think you shoutd chnge this trhead title (can you? Confused) so everyone knows it is Esprit, as musmet is their demographic...

clam · 08/03/2012 19:50

What, ESPRIT you say? Thieving rip-off merchants? No!

madwomanintheattic · 08/03/2012 19:55

Um, well they are a bit thick not to have realised, but tbh all companies would do this when they realised. It's how they make as much profit as possible. Unethical and shite, but business as usual.

Just take the kids out of school for the week before the newly realised esprit price hike. Wink

Prices are always much higher in the school hols. Shame they couldn't honour the original price as you noticed their mistake, but I can't say I'm surprised.

Would take kids out of school no problem but I work in a school office so unfortunately I can't take holidays in term time. Back to plan A and do what we did this year fab apartment through erna low and a nice drive through the alps. Hey ho just means we have to make our own meals x

Ah.
Well, esprit's loss. Grin

Actually they tried some funny business with me this year on pricing - e.g., quoting me one price for an additional adult and then upping it by £200 quid when I called back to confirm we were taking said additional adult. We'd already invited the person by then and so had to stump up the extra ourselves. We couldn't un-invite her at that point! Was not impressed.
