What kit/clothes do I need for my 3 under 4's?

We're going to try an hour or two on the slopes during our half term holiday in Germany with a 3yr old, 2yr old, 1yr old. probably just playing in the snow and watching dh/me have a quick turn on a board.

I'm not sure what to do about the baby and all their feet? I'm keeping an eye out for cheap snowboots but wondering if wellies would be good enough with a few pairs of socks?
I'm also reluctant to spend a fortune on a snowsuit for baby that he may only wear for an hour or two! He'll be 13months and is crawling/cruising so could do with proper boots i think rather than a snowsuit with padded feet.

I'm just thinking about how much kit and how many layers i used to wear when we went skiing pre-kids (i get really cold so wear a lot of layers) and wondering how to travel as light as possible!

Go for waterproof rain trousers, they are not warm on their own but you might get more use out of them as they are fairly adjustable and can do for a couple of years. Team these with long johns or tights (boys can wear tights too!) and jogging bottoms.

Waterproof mittens would be worthwhile, you can get lightweight ones to wear over normal mittens (I got my DS some really cheaply but they were in Finland). They'll no doubt have their hands in the snow and if they get cold that will be it.

I'd be inclined to go for snowboots if you can get cheap ones as wellies can be a bit cold and I have found they're not that much cheaper. My DS wears his snowboots alot, not just in snow. I remember now, he wailed and moaned when I took him to the park in wellies to play in the snow, his feet were cold! He was about 2 then.

Mittens on a string though the arms of the coat!

Snow boots defintitley - a lot of local kids will wear that as outdoor footwear throughout the winter , snow or not. Likewise a snowsuit - we layered a fleece one under a padded one for dd, so could take a damp one off easily in the car or indoors. If it is very cold they may not last more than 15 minutes outside but proper gear will increase their tolerance. Layer a fleece over a high neck top and thermal leggigns and under a outer layer with hat and mittens. Decathlon is good value and Lidl/Aldi. Also TK maxx and ebay for brands such as Trespass and Dare2Be. This site can be good for bargains and end fo lines.

We're planning a visit to Decathlon, there doesn't seem to be much on ebay at the moment but we have a month and a bit to shop around.

waterproof mittens and snowboots are on the list then. we have waterproof trousers but they're so thin i didn't think they'd be any use. i always knew my boys would end up in tights one day!

I have boys stuff to put on eBay. Must get a move on or it'll be warm again before I get rid.
