becks5109 · 16/03/2011 12:09

10 sleeps for us - going to France near Flaine and theres snow forecast this week - hurrah! DD 6.5 will ski for first time as will DS 4 so we're all very excited and can't wait.

tiredemma · 16/03/2011 12:14

we went to Morzine at Xmas and went again last week. Might go again just before easter- depends on snow there.

I drink copius amounts of Vin Chaud.

mopsyflopsy · 16/03/2011 13:07

We're off to Austria on April 2nd Smile. And lots of Glühweins and hot chocolates here!

Skifit · 16/03/2011 14:51

So do i drink Vin Chaud Wine. . .yum, delicious and a good relaxer after a day on the Piste.
Beck5109 have a lovely time and hope your dd and ds enjoy their first time... a good age to start.
I didnt ski till my 10 yr old was 3 yrs so I am a late starter here, but now a good Intermediate level. !!
Our gear is already packed and have bought a crash helmet for me this time. My older DS (22 yrs) is going to same place on Sat 19th.....hope he and his mates leave apartment tidy and we are there 5 days later.

Tiredemma let us know if you go for a 3rd time (lucky lucky) and if there is snow. Wld it be Morzine again? You will need somewhere with High altitude late of course, . . . . .

tiredemma · 16/03/2011 16:28

we will stay in Morzine but most probably go over to ski in Avoriaz. It was so warm in Morzine when we left last week, I would be surprised if they had any more snowfall tbh.

greygirl · 17/03/2011 17:39

about 330 days to my next ski trip abroad Sad
but i am pushing for 2 weeks next season [hopeful]

i drink mainly water in the day, and beer at night (but vin chaud is also rather nice)

Skifit · 18/03/2011 11:38

Yes i try to drink water in the day when skiing,,, or fruit juice and only drink Vin Chaud at night....otherwise I would go flying A over T and break my neck. Wink ! ! ! lol

We're going to Austria in two weeks, and will be drinking 'Heisse Schokolade' on the slopes and 'Glühwein' on the way down in the afternoon Grin.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 20/03/2011 19:23

about 290 Sad

orienteerer · 20/03/2011 21:09

At least 250 for meSad, we were due to go 18 Dec 2010.........sadly it snowed at HeathrowGrin. Booked independently but hotel kindly agreed to give us a credit on the room. However we can't go until Easter holidays by which time lifts will be closed (not very high resort)! Luckily hotel has full "wellness' area, children's club etc so we should be fineGrin.

Am so very jealous of those chapped lips. With only a few weeks until baby 2 arrives, I chose not to ski this winter and have missed it very much. Hope you all have a fabulous time. :)

Skifit · 21/03/2011 09:45

10 more nights.!!! Smile

We don't go again for 375 daysShock
Went to Tignes in Jan this year for our 1st ski holiday, Dh had booked again for next year a week after our return.
Just a shame its so long until then .

fedupwithdeployment · 21/03/2011 14:40

About 18...off on the 8th April to the Sourthern Alps. Not too sure what the snow will be like, but am hopeful. I think they had a bit of a dump last week.

Can't wait!!! And if the snow is dodgy, i will enjoy the sun and do a bit of biking / walking! Just need a break.

madwomanintheattic · 21/03/2011 14:42

we go every weekend Wink
well, from nov to april/ may, anyway. Grin

Skifit · 21/03/2011 18:46

Wow oh wow......how wonderful madwomanintheattic....where are you.??
fedupwithdemployment I hope you find some snow....we are going next week and apparently according to my son (22yrs) who is out there now the snow is slushy in the afternoon, and icy in the morning....oh well, that is to be expected at this time of year.
Enjoy your holiday , albeit ski, bike or walk...
for me... its ski , ski , ski !!!

Too many sleeps to count! Sad

We went to Font Romeu in the eastern Pyrenees at half term and will be going there again next year. Found some lovely little resorts with empty pistes and no lift queues!

Like others, water during the day, but treat myself to a vin chaud after the last run of the day. i feel justified in doing this as we took packed lunches each day!!

skifit, southern alberta, canada. Grin we have season passes to sunshine, but also have lake louise, norquay and nakiska available. Grin

herdingcats · 22/03/2011 10:12

Waswondering ,we lived only an hour away from Cairngorm for 12 years. My Ds still lives up there and went away to Avoriaz last week for his 1st time abroad, typical.
How I remember the P & J and the Northern Scot!

CaurnieBred · 22/03/2011 13:57

Just got back on Sunday and have already booked for 2012 so 292 days and countine . . .

fedupwithdeployment · 23/03/2011 13:00

The web cams look pretty good....we'll be skiing!!! I was looking on the bright side re the bikes and walking...no intention of doing anything other than skiing - well at least in the morning. If it gets sticky and slushy later on, we may have to compromise....To be fair have been there at Easter for the last 2 years and it has been good. Keep snowing!
