Hi, has anyone been to Banff? Would be grateful for any tips, especially nice things to do if not skiing? Thank you.

I have been to Banff but it was about 8 years ago. I remember it was a nice town and you can visit the hot springs.

The ski are is brilliant but we didn't really do anything else!

www.banff.ca has lots of info.

Thank you. Dh has hurt his knee so not sure how much skiing we will manage! Hot springs sound interesting.

Watch out for Elks in the street in the middle of the day, and do NOT approach them.
My brother thought that he'd pet one Hmm
He got shouted at by some locals Grin

It is a beautiful place, we only stopped there overnight (not ski season), but it was lovely.

There is dog sledding and hiking, definitely. Where in Banff are you staying? The hotel or the tour operator will push plenty of leaflets at you with various activities.

Depending on how shagged his knee is:

i) Hot spring baths up by the Rimrock (?) - can walk back in to town if not too cold - don't attempt in minus 18. :(
ii) Ice-climbing up towards Golden.
iii) Helicopter rides towards Fernie (BC direction - can't ride choppers in park)
iv) Dog-sledding at Lake Louise or Canmore
v) Shopping
vi) New tattoo in Canmore Wink
vii) Go watch the Calgary Flames (ice-hockey)

I've spent literally months there. :)
