I've been nagged into a skiing holiday at half term on the basis that this is good value. I'm pretty sure it is but can I just check before I commit - 7 nights skiing at half term. 4 star hotel half board with flights, transfers, equipment hire, ski school, lift passes. Family of 4 £2400. It seems a good price. is it too good to be true. Have I missed something off?

Oops - of course! Its andorra so a long transfer (3 hours) which is a disadvantage but it is £1500 less than the brochure price and so whilst we dithered about last night I think this morning we will book!

Yes, it's "only" Andorra - but it's still bloody excellent value for a family holiday at half term!

You could do a DIY package in France for less, especially is you had an apartment - they tend to be closer to the slopes that hotels. PROXIMITY to slopes is VERY USEFUL with young children, especially if they have never skiied, I kid you not, carrying 2 sets of skis on a walk of anything more than 400m is a killer. It is still possible to get 1 week in February in an apartment for 800 euro, lift passes for 3 (under 5/6s free) for 400 euro, ski hire for 4 for 180 euro, ski school 6 * 2/3 hours for 110 euro. Hardest bit would be transport.

Hmmm - we just did a week in France (St Foy) for about £1750 without accommodation (includes flights, food, transport to/from Geneva, 8 hours of private lessons, ski passes, kids ski hire) So it does seem a good deal for something you don't have to organise yourself! As Natation says, some time and effort could probably better it in France, but not by a lot I don't think and it would take some digging. Half term flights would also be ouch, I think!

Sounds a very good price for half term. However I've never been to andorra so am not sure what the skiing is like there.

When is your half-term? If it is the 12-19 there are lots of bargains to be had, as the 'main week' this year seems to be 19-26 which si braodly double the price. (For once we lucked in!)

Half term is week of 19th here and so its the busy/expensive week. We've gone ahead and booked it . The hotel looks good. It has a pool and a bowling alley which the DSs (and DH) will like. Its the closest hotel to the slopes and nursery area (150 metres) and the room is a luxury spabath family suite(!!) and so hopefully should be nice. Given that its half board too it seemed good value.

The Dcs and I are complete beginners and Andorra is supposed to be very good for beginnners and so hopefully that will suit us. DH hasn't been for a few years now and has said he's quite happy with the number of intermediate and advanced runs given that he'll want to be with the kids most of the time anyway.

Flights are ryanair into Girona since Andorra has no airport or station but we'll cope .

Andorra is a fab place to learn to ski. The ski school are all English speaking and it is very friendly. Watch out for all the mini-Andorrans on the slopes on Wednesday afternoons, when they get taken by their school.
