Just musing at the moment, but am toying with the idea of going away for xmas - or just after.

Dh has ski'd before, reasonable, I have once - when I was 11, and obviously ds hasnt.

Any recommendations for a really nice family resort, plenty to do etc etc?

Huge bias but Les Gets is a good resort for families with beginners and relative novices + plenty of skiing for anyone a bit more experienced.

Very pretty and lots to do as well as being a nice short transfer from Geneva.

I'd check out the 'family friendly' operators and see where they go.
I'd consider: a) transfer time to resort b)flight time and whether snow sure. Lots of places are family friendly, and I'd consider a smaller resort, possibly italy/austria as they tend to be prettier tradditional villages, but have a mooch and see. You might love the idea of a chalet (all catered, can keep an eye on kids whilst downstairs having a drink and chat in evening) or shudder at the thought (cooped up with strangers for a full week, and having to eat in the same place for most of it).

This article in the telegraph may prove interesting, have a
look

Les Gets
Morzine

we loved Zell am See in Austria and it was our first ever skiing destination- perfect for kids to learn- very pretty Austrian town.

but my fave, fave fave is Morzine.
