Why do I have random numbers and symbols after my name when I post?

it's obviously to do with the length of your name
only popped up today as far as I can see

Ah... hang on while I hold my nose and switch to Classic

In the blue box. My clickable log in name has the s taken off the end and &#2026 instead. I've seen someone else with it now as well. Exactly the same symbols and numbers.

I see the random letters and numbers on IE but not on google chrome.
