since my last plea got ignored.

I care not for which baby grup is on in gravesend or the nct sale in timbuctoo. and there are too many to hide individually and if i do i might miss the advertised pamper evening in my area happening in 2015 or something ridiculous (yes - there really is one - it may be a mistake).

Hello. Thanks for your post, 3BreastsInMyShirt, and sorry your last one got ignored (that's not like us).

What exactly are you after? What would you like to be able to do/see than you can't now?

Feenie · 12/06/2010 12:16

All of a sudden we can see everyone else's Local in Active Convo's - and we don't want to!

catinthehat2 · 12/06/2010 12:20

And somehow I have ended up with a Local on my talk page, and I want to dump it, I really really don't want to see it.

How can I get rid please?

HelenMumsnet · 12/06/2010 12:57

Feenie - you can see ALL local talk in Active Convos? So, not just your Local? (Sorry if being slow on uptake)

catinthehat2 - by "my talk page", do you mean at the top of your Active Convos list? Or the little box down on the right-hand side?

3BreastsInMyShirt · 12/06/2010 13:05

yes. all the local posts from all over so glasgow, sheffield, swansea etc not just coventry or wherever is really local.

llareggub · 12/06/2010 13:07

I've noticed this too. It is annoying.

suitejudyblue · 12/06/2010 13:10

Yes, I have local for Tunbridge Well and Edinburgh, both lovely places but neither anywhere near where I am and my local bit has an advert for an event which took place a year ago.

HelenMumsnet · 12/06/2010 13:11

Ah, that is NOT meant to be happening (although have been on me hols and may not be fully in loop)

Will try to find out what's afoot...

catinthehat2 · 12/06/2010 14:47

@Helen - little box bottom right under recipe of the week.

HelenMumsnet · 12/06/2010 15:05

catinthehat2 - that's box has been there for AGES, me dear

catinthehat2 · 12/06/2010 15:10

I don't mind if I do, but I can't drink both immediately, why don't you hang onto one?

catinthehat2 · 12/06/2010 15:14

I'm still baffled, how on earth did I let it know where I live. I shall have a poke around and see if I can eliminate some information.

Tee2072 · 12/06/2010 15:26

I posted about this about 3 days ago and was also ignored.

Yes, you can see all of everyone's local in active.

As I said on the 9th.

Did I mention it was ignored?

HelenMumsnet · 12/06/2010 16:10

Oh, Tee2072, we're so sorry. Think you might have an answer now, though

catinthehat2: I think when you join up, it asks you your postcode and our system uses that to show you the right Local listings in the box (although not at the moment, clearly!). Please don't worry, though: no one else using MN can see where you are from.

3BreastsInMyShirt · 12/06/2010 16:29

and in my real local box there's an advert for an event happening 07/12/15. do i really have to wait that long for a pamper evening?

FlameOverThinks · 12/06/2010 22:59

same issue

Ewe · 14/06/2010 13:48

Yes, same here too, can see lots of local threads from various areas.

HelenMumsnet · 14/06/2010 14:01

Hello. TomTech is on the case about this. But he's looking a bit stressed, so it may be a while before it's fixed...

Thanks for bearing with us in the meantime.

EasilyConfusedIndith · 15/06/2010 14:46

I saw this thread the other day and at the time mine was fine but today I am getting all the locals in active convos too! I'm sure the mums in Aberystwytherygubbins are lovely but tis a bit far for me to travel

diplodoris · 20/06/2010 01:45

Yes, I'm getting all the localities listed too.

Eleison · 20/06/2010 04:43

Oh, I had thought it was a deliberate change to up the profile of MN Local. Until it is fixed you can solve it by electing to ignore all of the localities individually, as they are now visible in your 'included/excluded topics' tool in Customise.
(Use control+shift to zap them with a single click.)

diplodoris · 20/06/2010 08:45

Thanks Eleison!

CatherineHMumsnet · 21/06/2010 09:50

TomTech has got this on his list of things to do this week. We'll give you an update mid-week on how it's going (if he's still speaking to us).
