AIBU? Mumsnets naming policy is discriminating against my cultural and linguistic heritage

Why can I not reflect my culture and national heritage in my nickname? Can you please add æ, ø and å to your alphabet so I can use these letters in my name?

I want to do a cod, and be QSrakørret. But I cant.(something to do with trout that has been decomposing ever so slightly under ground for some time, prior to eating)

Yes. I would like äüö and èàé too.

I could be MmeGemütlichkeit

or

MmeSchokoladeZumFrühstück

And I'd like to be able to use my Chinese name too.

gigglewitch · 03/05/2010 00:38

fantastic.

And why not a bit of Greek, whilst we're about it?

Tortington · 03/05/2010 01:09

japanese too

QS · 03/05/2010 08:38

I was just thinking that, it should be able to recognize all scripts, chinese, japanese, greek, russian, etc.

It would be like the great tower of Babel here!

I do think different scripts would be quite cool!

kreecherlivesupstairs · 03/05/2010 08:45

I could write my name in Thai or Arabic

I suppose some image could be used, so no problem with any alternative names from any languages.

However, to accommodate it, just like "The Prisoner", you'd perhaps be allocated a special MN "number" so someone might be MN2010001 and the next MN2010002 and so on (OK, MN20100001 and MN20100002 to allow 10,000 in 2010, using MN20100000 to MN20109999)

'tis a reasonable request, will place on pile.

We're rather limited to "western european" characters for the immediate future, but should be able to allow them in nicknames.

charlieandlola · 05/05/2010 14:35

I would like to post in Cyrillic - can you sort that too tech ?0
