Pre-teens section under parenting?

I feel their is a gap needing to be filled as dd age 9 today not yet a teenagers but is starting to became one, with puberty kicking in.

I think a section of us with pre teens (8/9 to teens) would be great as I feel mumnet is yet to cater for ths age.

I think it would be helpful - my eldest is 11 and it is unchartered territory for me! He is fine one minute then the next we get a hormonal rant...but he's not yet a fully fledged teen.

can you not just start a thread in parenting?

I don't like all this separate topics under one main heading.

Why do you need a specific section? Stick it in parenting. It's not like you'll get better answers if you segment it away from all the other bits!

Then why bother having a Teens section? Lump that in with parenting as well....

I think a pre-teens is a good idea. There are specific issues that come along in that age group.
I have posted a couple of times about issues with my two 9 yr olds and have not been sure where to post and then have not really had a response which I suspect is because the posts didn't really fit with the section if you see what I mean.

IMOL, i don't see the point in many of the subsections tbh

I'd suggest posting on teens for the 10 to 12 age group.
Children reach puberty at different times and often well before 13.Most MNs who lurk on teens have children in a range of age groups and are probably well placed to offer help on pre teens.
I use teens a lot as I find the parenting threads dominated by baby stuff, which alas is long in the past for me.

I'd like a section for that age too. My dd is nearly 9 and, like inthesticks and IMOL most of the stuff in parenting is about babies.

So pleased some of you feel the same as me. I did wonder if I was the only one who thought pre-teens don't really fit in anywhere.

I have posted in the teens before but some how don't feel I belong with my 9 year old dd. As some have said parenting is mostly babies.

i would agree. i have a 9yo...

many parenting issues are for young children, and teens come with a whole range of new worries.

i'd use a pre teens section.

Seeing this new section hasn't appeared, I assume it won't which is a great shame.

I really would be a great to see a pre-teens as dd is changing fast. Great to have a section with like minded parents.

I had to search for ages to find this. I am now giving it a little bumpy bump upwards.
