... have to open the thread to see what its actually about?

Please can we DESIST immediately?

Thank you.

That's not new. People have been doing that forever.

Perhaps you need to be here more and stop having a real life?

Fliight · 20/04/2010 17:04

I know, I loathe it too

I purposely avoid those. Thread titles can be really long if necessary, it's just ridiculous.

displayuntilbestbefore · 20/04/2010 17:05

very clever bibbity

bibbitybobbityhat · 20/04/2010 19:40

See, Tee, I thought I had seen more and more of it creeping in lately. Like lots of other horrible conventions from other forums.

What we need is someone with balls to keep reminding people about the unwritten rules of posting here on Mumsnet. I do keep wanting to call for backup from a certain forthright oldtimer.

She would come on with her

fgs ptu thequestino in teh title

and all would be well with the world

This title is ok, I hate the ones that say

Can anyone help me with this?

and want to say FGS a little bit more info in the title and you might get more hits.

I tend to have really long titles in order to avoid this. Which probably annoys other posters.

bibbitybobbityhat · 13/05/2010 14:07

Am bumping this up because I have just logged on and immediately seen two of them!

Aaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh

In what way is this making my life easier???

TrillianAstra · 13/05/2010 14:09

Not a new trend. Very annoying though.

bibbitybobbityhat · 13/05/2010 14:33

3 or 4 in Active Convos right now.

Am going over the eddddddgggggeeeeee.

OP posts:
TrillianAstra · 13/05/2010 14:36

Go onto all of them and say 'whoops, I thought this would be something interesting but I see you are just seeking attention with your uninformative title as this is actually very boring.'

bibbitybobbityhat · 13/05/2010 14:38

Oooo I wish I had the balls.

OP posts:
AmazingBouncingFerret · 13/05/2010 14:43

I am guilty of this. I can't help it, just have no imagination when it comes to thread titles.
I also overuse ...

You can hit me over the head with one of my dads missing fish now if you like..

SoMuchToBits · 13/05/2010 14:48
AmazingBouncingFerret · 13/05/2010 14:50

Tut, hitting ferrets with fish, you shouldnt be so cruel to animals

SoMuchToBits · 13/05/2010 14:56

All I can say to that is ........

BlameItOnTheBogey · 13/05/2010 15:00

I hate this. And I also hate 'Go on am I?' or some such as a thread title in AIBU.

Floopy21 · 13/05/2010 16:12

I always feel a bit cheated when I click on them & it says something really boring like
Shall I...
"...have an apple or an orange for lunch?"
rather than
"...blackmail the postman with pictures I have of him naked?"

squeaver · 14/05/2010 17:53

I am SO with you on this.

onebatmother · 14/05/2010 17:54

It's sooo annoying.
You always click hoping it will be a stinky fanjo one and it so rarely is.

pagwatch · 14/05/2010 18:07

i end up with slightly teaser-esque titles because I am so long winded.
DH always says "can we have the short version Enid Fucking Blyton.."

TrillianAstra · 16/05/2010 12:19

I've just been told off for suggesting that someone might get more useful responses if they put a slight clue as to what the thread was about in the title.

Maybe I should have actually read the thread, but I had resolved to say it to the next one I came across.

bibbitybobbityhat · 10/06/2010 15:05

I see this could do with a little bump again ... gggggrrrrr

I shall cease and desist.
