You know his show isn't real, don't you? He did a segment in Little River Canyon near where we spend the summer and my family lives - it was hilarious. He had alligators! There are no alligators. Poisonous snakes out in winter, too. Gotta watch out for those (rolls eyes).
Here's a bit on it.

This is funny, too.

cornsilk · 18/04/2010 15:54

the surviving in Ireland one was hilarious. The Irish have managed it for years without blowing up dead sheep and using them as a raft. He is very entertaining.

cyb · 18/04/2010 15:56

I call him Bear Grillis. Dont know why

if we are getting people on we fancy can we please have SWEET BABY MOSES

cornsilk · 18/04/2010 15:56

Oh dear cyb.

paulaplumpbottom · 18/04/2010 15:59

oh yes please!!!!!! With his shirt off if possible. He will have to survive the heat (which you will turn up of course) in your offices.

cyb · 18/04/2010 15:59

I've just set Tom as my desktop background

Themasterandmargaritas · 18/04/2010 16:00

When the camera is off he nips out of his tent made from sheep's intestines and drops the barbecued bugs and heads off the nearest five star hotel for a spa.

Themasterandmargaritas · 18/04/2010 16:01

cyb, are you having a mid life crisis?

JJ · 18/04/2010 16:29

Seeing him on old Friends episodes does it for me. Yes, agree with cyb, let's have Tom Selleck on.

You've seen Selleck sandwich waterfall, I hope!

moondog · 18/04/2010 16:31

I saw BG for the first time ever at t' gym the other day and nearly fell off the treadmill in hysterics.

What a konb.

paulaplumpbottom · 18/04/2010 16:45

Did he have his shirt off?

moondog · 18/04/2010 16:49

Oh sorry, no he wasn't frequenting a gym in SE Asia, he was on tv.
Being a konb, fashioning paddles out of goatskins and building traps for frogs.

bradsmissus · 18/04/2010 17:08

DDs year 5 teacher looked just like Bear Grylls only a bit taller.

MMMM MMMM!!!!

(hangs head at inappropriate fancying of young male teacher)

MamaG · 18/04/2010 17:09

Then he could meet his namesake and intrepid explorer AliGrylls who likes to wear stilettos and only explores the inside of shopping centres.

MamaG · 18/04/2010 22:25

Slubberdegullion · 18/04/2010 22:30

I'd rather have Ray Mears.

MamaG · 18/04/2010 22:32

now i love ray

but i wouldn't want to "have" him

OP posts:
crumpet · 18/04/2010 22:33

Our nanny and her friend used to ogle him at tumbletots. Was considered a result if one of them sat next to him.

His children do have silly individual names though

MamaG · 18/04/2010 22:33

lol crumpet

OP posts:
Slubberdegullion · 18/04/2010 22:35

Ray would have a greater cross over appeal for the campers as he has many a use for a tarp.

That Bear is just silly. All that drinking his own piss or is it pissing on himself to keep cool. No thanks.

MamaG · 18/04/2010 22:38

rofl at the piss

yes it is a bit offputting isn't it

Bear : "oh MamaG you're such a fox I want to shag you"

MamaG : "Sorry Bear, not withotu a condom"

Bear : " it's ok i'll use this old sheep bladder"

sorry to bump this old thread but it's the most recent one I can find.

Is a man who ponces about the desert (with a cameraman or two) spitting out bugs and pissing on himself really a good role model?

I just started watching a programme with my DH and only realised when the ad break came up that this toss pot is Bear Grylls. I'm actually quite angry

CatherineMumsnet · 18/06/2010 16:46

Hi all, we'll put him on the list and start hounding contacting his 'people'
