GeraldineMumsnet · 04/03/2010 15:12

Yes, our very latest publishing progeny is in all good bookshops (online and offline).

Babies: The Mumsnet Guide is packed to bursting with your advice on the whole kit and caboodle of babydom (breastfeeding, colic, sleep, food, health, relationships, childcare and lots more) plus some brilliant puns.

If you've already read it, reviewed it or recommended it, thank you! Please tell us what you think here.

If you haven't, order your copy and read Justine's foreword for a taster.

Thank you.

And please spread the word at your antenatal class, buy it as a present for your mates and generally help to get some magnificent Mumsnet advice out there!

OMG are there things that old in it?! Ok, i was ixel

cakeywakey · 14/03/2010 18:22

I initally misread this thread title as 'Barbies - the Mumsnet guide is out now' but am now reassured that this is a sensible thread about the latest book and not a treatise on Barbara Millicent Roberts .

I'll have to have a flick though it when I see it in the shops - I've just bought the pregnancy guide for my friend who's expecting her first DC. She was so relieved to read about other women who had gone through all the thoughts and niggles that she's been having. I think this one may be her next pregnancy pressie.

blouseenthusiast · 15/03/2010 10:27

mustrunmore, I'll search for you...
Barbies guide, hmmmmm. A playmobil guide would be good, with all the playmobil that ever was plus all the fantasy playmobil anyone has ever dreamed of...

mustrunmore · 15/03/2010 11:57

Thanks! Tell you what, mn are very canny. What better way of flogging books that having hundredds odf people in it?!

blouseenthusiast · 15/03/2010 13:17

Sorry, mustrunmore, can't find you, unless you had some interim names?

mustrunmore · 15/03/2010 13:20

I've had tons, for short periods of time tho!
Maybe I'm just not wise

blouseenthusiast · 17/03/2010 09:58

Post some more names, and I will look for them, mustrunmore!

charidee · 17/03/2010 12:05

Is it worth reading even when you've graduated past baby no1? I mean less because post-no1 you are expect and more because you've lost the enthusiasm to read the manual.

charidee · 17/03/2010 12:06

by 'expect' I mean 'expert' ahem.
pg hormones

willvo · 17/03/2010 14:45

just working out how to create message.
testing......

blouseenthusiast · 17/03/2010 15:56

charidee, I can't give you an objective view on that one but I cannot remember reading any further baby books after child no 1...

NorkilyChallenged · 19/03/2010 19:39

Charidee - after having dc2, I can remember failing to find a parenting book called "Why the fuck doesn't this one sleep either?" so I think I fall into the latter of your two categories.

LessVegMoreCake · 20/03/2010 21:09

.

MrsJamin · 21/03/2010 07:29

I'm in it! Got it out from the library - its a very good read even though I'm on DC2, I'll be recommending it to first-timers.

lineky · 24/03/2010 17:47

As a first timer about to pop I am loving it. I really like the way no one method etc is held up as the answer and some of it is hillarious makes me think I may manage this parenting malarky afetr all.
All in all a really good buy from my point of view.

Krynster · 14/04/2010 22:20

Love it, love it, love it!

Thank you ALL contributing MNers for fab insights and great anecdotes. It's brilliant for dipping into and hasn't failed to cheer me up EVERY time I read it.

Really enjoyed the PFB stuff- especially as a new mum myself.

SamanthaFox · 04/05/2010 07:08

Oh I have just seen this!

thankyou Blouse for your lovely comment.

who is blouse anyway?

BethanyBear · 15/05/2010 22:45

I can't get enough of this book! I bought this 3 weeks away from giving birth and it's so full of useful/funny information. Although none of it is applicable to me yet, but it has given me a very honest look into the life I am about to lead. Loved it!

elkiedee · 27/05/2010 16:07

Did anyone make it to the first party? I ask because it was the day after the freak snow in 2009 and a lot of things were cancelled. I wanted to come but didn't get an invite, but I also wouldn't have been make it because ds2 arrived at 3.27 am that day.

BBBee · 29/05/2010 20:15

is there any way of finding out if we are in it?

AdsVitsFoodJuice · 31/05/2010 13:44

AM I in it?????

Maaster · 01/07/2010 17:38

My daughter,a mum of two, would like to run courses for single parents and couples who have had abortions.

There are over 180,000 abortions a year which many folks dont realise the psychological, emotional and spiritual stress and trauma which they suffer and stays with them till end of time and evn though people try an dput it at the back of thier mind, still need counselling and therapautic, mental ,emotional and spiritual support.

My daughter ran a course called Rachaels Vinyard on a voluntary basis to help parents, single folks and would like to do the help and support course on a wider scale to help mums and dads.
Can anyone help with ideas of how to fund raise to support such a noble and humane cause for the greater good of the mums, dads, children and community as after all all life is sacred and a gift.thanks.

JustineMumsnet · 01/07/2010 18:35

Yes BBBee, you can buy it .

chippychoo · 16/09/2010 17:15

the book is hilarious and helpful. definately helped me through the last couple of weeks if only to restore my sense of humour!Especially as I cant reach for the wine at the moment as am breastfeeding.
I think every new mum should have a copy

JustineMumsnet · 17/09/2010 11:45
