Where did 'DH' 'DS' etc originate from?

Just being curious and wondering where the MN terminology 'DH' 'DD' 'DP' etc originates from.

Do other parenting sites use those terms or just us? (can you tell I don't venture much further than here! )

I can remember thinking it sounded sort of odd to put 'dear' in front of everyone's title when I started here - got used to it now, and even do it mentally in RL I think!

Just wondered where it came from - it sounds sort of quaint!

Think it's pretty standard across the 'net. Certainly gets used on other sites I'm on. And, yes, you can tell when you're spending too much time on the computer when everyone is 'dh' 'ds' etc!
