Good afternoon MNHQ

Please could we have Ann Sinnott on as a guest?
There are a good many Mumsnetters breastfeeding toddlers who I am sure would appreciate this. Equally I think it could be of interest to other posters who have reservations about longer term breastfeeding.

In light of recent events it would be great if
Mumsnet could facilitate a genuinely impartial discussion.

Thank you

Fantastic! :D

mawbroon · 31/01/2010 17:15

Yes, I would be interested.

I haven't read her book, but then I didn't read LLL's Mothering your nursing toddler because I was sure around 2 yrs ago that ds would self wean soon.

Still waiting....

policywonk · 31/01/2010 17:17

What does 'in the light of recent events... genuinely impartial discussion' refer to?

PuzzleRocks · 31/01/2010 17:22

Oh yes what a fab idea!!!

Please oh lovely inhabitants of MN towers!

policywonk · 31/01/2010 17:55

Ah right, thanks Puzzle. Is Ann Sinnott the woman who was the subject of a slightly snidey article in the Guardian's Family section a few weeks ago?

Babieseverywhere · 31/01/2010 17:56

Great idea

PuzzleRocks · 31/01/2010 18:00

PW - She is indeed.
Yep, that article that ended on that old chestnut "If they are old enough to ask..".

Oh yes, here is the Ann Sinnott article. Read all the way to the bottom of the page. Ann addresses the errors in the article in the comment section, telling off the jouranlist. She then went on to reply to the other comments made about the article, which I found very amusing. LOL.

that three times in a sentence can't be good.

ZuluWarrior · 01/02/2010 20:16

Yes please Mumsnet!

thisisyesterday · 01/02/2010 20:19

oh good idea!

bebemoohatessnot · 01/02/2010 20:57

I'd love to hear a debate about extended feeding as we're in the weaning phase and are debating/wondering about the benefits of continuing past the 12m...

WrigglyGiggly · 02/02/2010 08:08

Please MN

ShowOfHands · 02/02/2010 13:28

Oh yes please. Might even top Chris Corcoran. Well, maybe not but I'd certainly be very interested in this.

What a fab idea.

confusedfirsttimemum · 02/02/2010 16:53

Ooh, yes yes please. It would be great to have a proper discussion with her.

I'd love a discussion on extended breastfeeding that actually takes in a lot of women's experience of it (i.e. probably feeding to somewhere between 2 and 5) instead of the constant focus on finding the person who has continued to the latest age as if it's some kind of (in the mind of the journalist) freak top trumps. The constant focus on ages means we never get to discuss anything else with anyone except other MNers (lovely though you all are).
