tv round up on mumsnet parenting news

Although my mumsnet parenting news email is dated as being sent Thu 14th Jan 15:14 I don't ever seem to receive it 'til Friday morning at the earliest and sometimes even Saturday. Now that in itself is not the end of the world but it does usually mean that Aitch's TV round-up has been and gone. Can I please request that the TV round up is not for something on the Thursday that the email is sent out? I often scroll down the round up to see what Aitch has recommended only to sigh and think 'oh it's been'. Now I know you can watch on iplayer and stuff but I prefer to sky + in advance so I can half keep an eye on the telly and keep my laptop on the go at the same time iplayer just doesn't cut it for me.

gotcha, smac, sorry. i thought everyone got their message on thursday and was trying to do 'current' progs. i'll avoid in future.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 20/01/2010 11:40

(although i have actually done one for tonight, what was it called... dispatches, the real slumdogs of mumbai, i think. ch4 9pm. really good, shocking stuff and all the better for not having some poxy uk format breathing down its neck.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 20/01/2010 11:41

that should be really good - shocking stuff, iykwim? it's a straight up docco, no frills, just a good story well told.

EssenceOfJack · 20/01/2010 12:32

I don't get it anymore, I am signed up and everything but the emails never reach my inbox, I think the spam filter is stopping them from even getting to me!
They are on here though aren't they?

morningpaper · 20/01/2010 14:56

Oooh, do you know, I always read that bit Aitch

I love your telly Roundups

You are VERY funny

HelenMumsnet · 20/01/2010 16:00

Essence of Jack - yes, you can always find them (and MP's round up) here

Sorry to hear you're not sending the emails, though.

Am going to post my long but hopefully helpful guide to getting them back again:

We suspect there may be some gremlins in the MNHQ email-sending-out machine - which we working hard to fix - but, in the meantime, this is what we're suggesting people do (you get to skip the first two because you've done those already!):

  1. Check your Spam folder. Even if MN stuff's never ended up in there before.
  1. Check your preferences in My Mumsnet. Click on Email options - and check you've selected to receive what you want to receive.
Then click on Your details - have you got a message in red, saying previous attempts to email you have failed? If you have, try just clicking Save Changes - that will tell our system to try sending emails to you again.
  1. See if you can tweak your Spam settings. If you use Aol, Hotmail or Yahoo, we have some suggestions for you [[ www.mumsnet.com/emails/spam.html
here]]
  1. Add the following addresses as contacts to your address book.

(Please note that, where it says "yourid", you need to substitute your unique Mumsnet registration number - which you can find by going into My Mumsnet and clicking on registration details.)

For Parenting News newsletter: [email protected]

For Talk Roundup:
[email protected]

For Pregnancy emails:
[email protected]

For Child Development emails:
[email protected]

  1. Sign up for a Google Gmail account It's free and they have a good track record of accepting Mumsnet's emails.

Hope that helps.

HelenMumsnet · 20/01/2010 16:01

getting the emails, obv

RocheMoutonee · 20/01/2010 16:01

i love em too
the best one ( ie the prog i would never have watched) was electric dreams on bbc4

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 20/01/2010 17:46

that was an ace show, wasn't it? lots of telly production people thought highly of it too, it turns out.

cocolepew · 20/01/2010 17:48

I didn't even know a TV roundup exsisted! [feels left out]

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 20/01/2010 17:51

Couldn't see the tv round up on that link and never even knew there was one.

How often are MP round ups done?

Pingpong · 20/01/2010 18:00

Thanks for the reply Aitch.
IKWYM about wanting to be current though.
Real slumdogs sounds good. Shall set the sky + now and might try and find Dervla on iplayer. . . .

oh god that was utter shite, that fashion thing. i absolutely LOVED it, though, but i notice that the other critics loathed it. pompous diddies, imo, it's a laaaff.

HelenMumsnet · 20/01/2010 18:53

Fab: the TV round-ups are in the Parenting News newsletters (towards the bottom)

MP's roundups are once a week (Friday), high days and holiday permitting - and if you follow the same link, you can catch up on them there.

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 20/01/2010 19:16

Thanks Helen.

I don't get the round ups weekly.

HelenMumsnet · 20/01/2010 22:00

Oh dear Fab. Have you tried the jolly old tips I just posted for Essence of Jack?

Or have you changed your email address and not updated your reg details?

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 21/01/2010 11:12

I will try your tips. You have my right email as I do get it sometimes, just not for a while. Thanks.

EssenceOfJack · 21/01/2010 20:01

Tried it on bt email,, added addresses into email, nothing and the talk round up isn't on the site yet,
I have gmail but would I have to change email for everything? or would I have to sign up 'again' with that email to get them?
