On second thoughts, that is probably ill adviced.

AnyFucker · 02/01/2010 21:42

sherrytom · 02/01/2010 21:43
Shock
BananaPudding · 02/01/2010 21:45

Is it an antique rifle?

LynetteScavo · 02/01/2010 21:49

Great idea. I was wondering where other people keep their Uzi. I keep mine under the bed, but not sure if that is entirly a good idea with children playing hide and seek, etc.

cocohasleftthebuilding · 02/01/2010 21:50

Well it's only fair we get a tank and armoured vehicles section too.

LynetteScavo · 02/01/2010 21:53

But I think tanks and armoured vehicles need two different sections.

I often drive in an armoured vehicle...it's a mMrc incase you were wondering.

I've no need for a tank, though.

SolidGoldBloodyJanuaryUrgh · 02/01/2010 21:54

ONe of my mates has fired a cannon.

Flightattendant · 02/01/2010 21:54

Sports innit? fraek

cocohasleftthebuilding · 02/01/2010 21:55

Really? I thought they went well together. Dh drives an armoured van (Merc) but I would like a tank. I don't get on with my neighbours.

BananaPudding · 02/01/2010 21:56

I keep a 12-guage and a 22 Hornet in the corner of my closet.

LoveBeingAMummyKissingSanta · 02/01/2010 21:58

And there was me thinking I finally have a way to get DH to think mn is a good idea

LynetteScavo · 02/01/2010 22:06

I meant Merc, not mMrc.

Incase you were wondering what strange new vehicle this was.

cocohasleftthebuilding · 02/01/2010 22:11

I thought, maybe, you have a higher security clearance than me. [taps nose]

2010aQuintessentialOdyssey · 02/01/2010 22:22

To be honest, my son wants a snow cannon. He thinks blasting snow into the face of the enemy sounds really cool.

But yes, I am thinking about antiques. We have happened across a hunting riffle that allegedly belonged to Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany, but the manufacturer is Czech. It has a serial number. It is a long winded story. Not sure where I can find somebody with knowledge of old weapons .... Though a mumsnetter has given me " a lead" and a CAT might be forthcoming...

Imagine the heading.

Mumsnet, for parenting advice and arms deals.

How does one happen across a hunting riffle that allegedly belonged to Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany?

2010aQuintessentialOdyssey · 02/01/2010 22:34

Well, the story goes that he got pissed off while on a hunting trip to some goose/duck/elk rich area up here, and threw his rifle into the bushes. Some local picked it up. It resurfaced during the war when the germans requisitioned ALL local weapons. Another local, "employed" by the germans, working at their armory cataloging the firearms, "borrowed it" and gave it to my father. My father had won several trophies in the sport Biathlon in his youth, so this bloke thought my father might like the rifle. He had no idea what it was until an old aquintance from his sporting days brought it up.

Fuck me. I thought Sarah Palin had joined Mumsnet for a moment.

Mind you, she'd certainly liven things up a bit.

SolidGoldBloodyJanuaryUrgh · 02/01/2010 23:06

Are there not forums for needledicks with gun fetishes antique weapons experts, in general, on the net?

2010aQuintessentialOdyssey · 02/01/2010 23:32

you have a point...
not sure that is the crowd I would like to hang with. But, i suppose, needs must...

Wastwinsetandpearls · 02/01/2010 23:36

I sometimes wonder if a certain poster is Sarah Palin

WilfSell · 02/01/2010 23:40

Who? DP?

Wastwinsetandpearls · 02/01/2010 23:46
