It used to happen a lot but had stopped recently. I used to click back and try posting again and this usually worked but even that's not working now.

I find that has happened if you haven't logged in first

LastOfTheMulledWine · 17/12/2009 11:46

I am always logged in.

Never log out.

Has the thread you were posting on been deleted?

LastOfTheMulledWine · 17/12/2009 16:26

No. It's a total random occurence. If I try again it usually works. No rhyme or reason.

PC, Windows, IE7 btw.

Hmm
I am a Mac girl (which in my head always comes out sounding like "I'm a safety girl" in Pretty Woman, but I digress)
so I don't know abtou IE7 but I will pass this on to TechCentral

arisHOHOHOcat · 21/12/2009 09:41

yes,yes this has happened to me too!

am on windows - but it doesnt happen very often.

please MrTech tell us why?

LastOfTheMulledWine · 23/12/2009 14:18

Any news on this?

It just happened again on the Keira Knightley thread. Only slightly different this time. For the first time, even though I got directed to the weird preview message page with the odd symbols on it, the message actually posted it would seem. I clicked back and on post again as I usually would and the message is on the thread twice.

It's an odd glitch.

This is happening to me a lot now (am the op).

A quick search reveals I first asked about it in 2007. Am I on a waiting list? Is my call very important to you? Should I wait or press a different number?

ShowOfHands · 08/03/2010 14:21

In 2007 I had a baby fgs. Said baby is now drawing a picture of an octopus marrying a mermaid. Things have changed, babies have grown up, I've lost weight (you can compliment me on this if you like), we've got our first black president of the ol' US, dayglo neon's come in and gone out of fashion several times and still, still this problem continues. It's getting worse too. Three times today.

My call isn't important to you is it? I'm not on hold at all. I've been thrown into an existential void haven't I?

And you need to change your on hold music. I don't wish to walk on sunshine. It's not summer anymore. The seasons changed too. Repeatedly.

OliviaMumsnet · 08/03/2010 15:09

Seriously
You should be glad you're not on hold.
The hold music at MN Towers is beyond DIRE.

Huge congratulations on losing weight. I am not very good at doing that due to my addiction to toasted cheese sandwiches and lazyarse inability to do any exercise.

But let me see what we can find out for you. My personal email address if I have not got back to you by 5pm is [email protected].

sausagepastie · 08/03/2010 15:15

me too...but will someone please give SoH a job? She is FAR too funny to be on here all day

ShowOfHands · 08/03/2010 15:21

Toasted cheese sandwiches are v healthy if you put onion in them. Same as carrot cake and fruit and nut chocolate. Not putting onion in them obviously. That's a Step Too Far.

sausagepastie, I have a job, it's lying to myself about nutrition. I want a job in MNHQ ideally. Nothing technical, big red button would do me. Doesn't even have to link to anything, I just want the illusion of control. And enough money to keep me in gingerbread and Dr Marten's.

OliviaMumsnet · 08/03/2010 15:29

Okay, well first thing I've found out is that you are not aloooooone (hums m jackson)

ShowOfHands · 08/03/2010 15:36

Several people have brought it up over the years. Mostly me though. I like to carp on.

There's no excuse for M Jackson you know. Do some press-ups as penance. Work off the toastie. Unless there was onion in it of course.

It seems cyclical in nature. Like my moods. Sometimes it doesn't happen for a month or so, sometimes it's 4 times a day. Now that's not so much like my moods, more like my gingerbread habit.

StealthPolarBear · 08/03/2010 15:42

Yes, this never used to happen to me, and then in the last month or so it's started happening often (every other day or so). Doesn't seem to be any pattern to it, apart from if I click the back button when it happens and then try to resubmit it always happens again - if I refresh the page it works OK - as if it's an error when the page loaded

OliviaMumsnet · 08/03/2010 16:24

This is all v helpful for the techs i think as it does seem indeed like it's a weirdy bug that only gets triggered on the 3rds wednesday afternoon before an equinox if the moon is waxing gibbous or somesuch.
So there SOH, we aren't ignoring you, it's just it's really freaky and we're not sure atm how we can help
BUT we have got it on someone's desk which is a start, non?
Apologies again for the tardiness in our reply (though a mail to contactus will usually always garner one if we're slow getting back on here)

best wishes with your mermaid/octopus family.

RustyBear · 08/03/2010 16:29

First step - get rid of IE7 - it is the work of the devil. Replace it with IE8 in case you have anything that needs IE, then get a decent browser like Firefox or Chrome, and use that as your default browser.

ShowOfHands · 08/03/2010 16:37

Acksherley, I am using Firefox.

IE7 was so last year.

Thanks Olivia. While you're here, has anybody mentioned that statuses could cause embarrassment re namechanges. I changed my name t'other day for sensitive reasons and almost forgot to change my status too. Wondered if your status perhaps should be attached to your username, same as your profile is, so that if you namechange it isn't there to haunt identify you. Just a thought...
