Would removing the search by poster facility wouldn't it reduce our risk of being outed in RL or stalked by weirdos?

It's a facility for stalkers surely?

Can it be dropped?

I never use it so wouldn't be arsed

nevergoogledragonbutter · 24/11/2009 21:33

Gah, don't you hate it when you post your thread title all muddled up?

I only use it if I want to see if someone is a troll.

PacificDogwood · 24/11/2009 21:36

There should really be a block on being able to google your name, dragonbutter.

Never use the "searching facility" either and am too boring to be stalked, so not that bothered either, personally speaking, but see your point.

LadyBlaBlah · 24/11/2009 21:37

Has someone been stalked /outed recently?

CitizenPrecious · 24/11/2009 21:38

I find it indispensable for occasional troll spotting.

Pwease don't get rid

CitizenPrecious · 24/11/2009 21:39

...sible?

Oh yes, and it is also very useful for noticing that the poster who has come to tell us all how wooooooooonderful (say) Lapland UK is has mysteriously never made any other posts beforehand.

Boxfile · 24/11/2009 21:45

I use it if I want to see if a poster I want to get in touch with is around. But as a recent namechanger because I think I've become too recognisable on here I'd be in favour.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 24/11/2009 21:45

er thanks for that prof

PerArduaAdNauseum · 24/11/2009 21:46

I use it sometimes to find out where specific people 'are' right now, as there are some nutters posters I trust to always be in the middle of an interesting conversation. Would hate to lose that facility...

LauraIngallsWilder · 24/11/2009 21:48

Noooooo search according to poster name must never go anywhere

Im am at the mere idea

EachPeachPearMum · 24/11/2009 21:49

I find it extremely useful, as I can usually remember who said something, but not what they've said

morningpaper · 24/11/2009 21:49

As others said, it works via google - and google is actually more effective. Search for:

"By Morningpaper" site:mumsnet.com

and you've got all the info you need

PerArduaAdNauseum · 24/11/2009 21:53

Ah, google might be more effective, but not for telling you where people are Today...

sleepwhenidie · 24/11/2009 21:54

Also agree v useful - was how I found out Trinity Rhino coveted that famous blue velvet coat from Boden .
