So how long have those Mumsnet local listings been in the right hand column?

I've only just noticed them....

Is this because no-one evr goes on the 'normal' site pages? Are you stealthily putting them onto the talk boards item by item?

I don't know how long they have been there, but mine, for Portsmouth?IOW is showing something dated 01/01/09 bit late

It wasn't rip of the day it was quote of the day. de registered from local and it made no difference. I am most likely being hormonal and will get used to it

Quotes just remind me that other people are wittier than me, and makes me want to kill. A bit. On reflection, probably best it's gone.

Recipe of the week I still have. I am flabberghasted as to how, out of the three that made the final cut.

As an aside, all of my 'local' events are at least an hour away. So cheers.

although i like it in theory it apppears to be all about bbies, toddlers, NCT stuff and completely irrelevant for me. can I block it?

Well this is the first step, we hope, to making MN Local more relevant and more local - i.e improving it. It's been a bit hidden away, so we're hoping that a bit more spotlight will encourage folks to get listing/ editing/ commenting etc.

I have 5 events on mine - 4 of them are for the same thing (Drama workshops) in four different locations - but they were all over 2 months ago.

But it doesn't really matter anyway, because clicking on the link only takes you to the MN home page anyway....
