My 'thread's I'm on' are hanging around like a bad smell

Can you get rid of them? Or if not, why are they around so long? One of mine has not been contributed to for nine days... It annoys my inner tidiness. I want to tidy it up. Can you help?

If you go to "Customise", in the "Other Options" section you can set how long it will check "Threads I'm On" - you can have anything from 1 to 21 days.
