How do I stop my daughter from sucking her fingers?

My daughter aged 4 continues to suck her fingers (using alternate hands). Can anyone suggest techniques that have worked for them?. I am quite concerned now as her front teeth are protruding and the dentist advises me that I need to nip this in the bud sooner rather than later. Thanks

You used to be able to get hold of this non-toxic disgusting taste varnish to put on nails to prevent you from biting them. Don't know if still available - my Mum got it for me when I was a child - I'm 37 now!!

Might be worth asking in _chat or similar as this area would be the last place I'd expect to see it viewed by most users...

it is still available you can get it at boots and it still tastes vile

Thanks all, I will check the in_chat. Unfortunately I have tried the varnish from Boots and it didn't work.
