mn seems unusually slow tonight? (I mean from a tech POV)

Maybe it's just me, but every time I change screens or refresh I have to wait ages while it says "waiting for ads1.mumsnet.com"

Doesn't seem to take as long usually? I'm not having delays with any other site. Is anyone else finding it slow?

Is it still slow for you today, theyoungvisiter?

If it is, could you let us know which ad it is that's being so slow to load - once we know, we'll see if we can do something about it.

theyoungvisiter · 03/10/2009 14:40

No, it seems to be fine today. Thanks for asking though.

Hurrah!

paisleyleaf · 03/10/2009 16:45

I found it slow last night too, and gave up on it in the end.
Fine today

theyoungvisiter · 06/10/2009 20:38

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAH it's slow again.

It doesn't seem to be any ad in particular - I've had slow loads on the Crave maternity ad, and the legoland ad, but then other times the same ad has flashed up quickly.

It's taking like 10 seconds, just sitting there displaying "waiting for ads1.mumsnet.com" which doesn't sound a lot, but normally it just flashes up without any wait at all.

goodness me it is indeed very very sloooooooooooooow tonight.

theyoungvisiter · 06/10/2009 20:40

I timed it, and to post that previous message took 22 seconds, of which 19 seconds was spent looking at "waiting for ads1.mumsnet.com".

It's not normally this slow and the other sites I'm on seem fine, plus the threads themselves are loading fine - I'm not having any trouble loading big threads or anything like that, it's just the ads.

x-posted Eccentrica - well, I'm glad to know it's not just me. I was starting to think it might be my brain slowing down

Hmm, we haven't noticed it being slow this end.

Any idea which ads were taking a while to load?

theyoungvisiter · 07/10/2009 10:32

It seems alright again today - seems to be a late night/evening thing.

I'm not 100% sure which ads - I noticed very slow loads before both the Crave Maternity ad, the Legoland ad and the Which Wills ad (like a 10-20 second wait) but then other times the same ads seemed ok.

And today they are all loading alright.

V annoying and mysterious!

OK, thanks - that's v helpful.

Will pop into Shed and see if Techs have anything searingly insightful to say.

YetMoreTech · 07/10/2009 16:29

Stand back, searing insight coming through.....

It's the old chestnut: it's slow because it's busy! Hmm, okay, not so searing.

However, the good news is that we've some more hardware on order and that will speed things up. We don't have an exact date yet, but it should be within the next couple of weeks or so. The beauty of having to wait a couple of weeks is it will give you all a chance to figure out what you're going to do whilst the site is down during the migration.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 07/10/2009 16:31

yo hi five matey

Arrrrrrg! [covers eyes to protect from searing brightness of insight]

I guess that makes sense I blame the Mail
