An Open Letter to MNHQ requesting you to keep regular business hours

Dear MNHQ

I am hereby appealing to your good nature and lack of business sense. You are open all hours, creating all sorts of traffic, loitering, and disturbance. It is ruining my beauty sleep, and disturbing me in my work and daily toil. You are situated right on my desk, and therefore you need to respect my need for peace and quiet.

Please power down your servers at 11 pm uk time sharp, and do not power up again until 9 am uk time.

This will have the added benefit of being an environmentally friendly move, as you will be reducing your carbon footprint and reducing your electricity bill.

Yours truly deluded

QS

Yes, I agree.

Is there a petition I can sign?

I should be in bed, I am exhausted. Instead I'm sitting on my laptop drinking yet more wine, cackling to myself and endlessly clicking refresh to see if anyone has picked up on my inane witticisms.

Just stop it, will you?

VulpusinaWilfsuit · 24/09/2009 00:25

Nope. Electricity is cheaper at night, doncha know?

DidEinsteinsMum · 24/09/2009 00:28

who else would stay up with me whilst i calculate the odds between nasty virus and swine flu for whatever is making ds ill?

WebDude · 24/09/2009 04:18

QuintessentialShadow - if you want enforced block from posting, try the BBC website, because some of their messageboards fit in with your needs - no posting from midnight to 9am (10an Saturday and Sunday), and some even close at 9pm !!

ZacharyQuack · 24/09/2009 05:32

On behalf of antipodeans, I wish to protest.

Please keep to the hours of 10pm to 10am.

Thank you.

thumbwitch · 24/09/2009 05:37

yes, ditto ZacharyQuack - and as a longterm Twilighter, QS you are being discriminatory! You are anti-Owl! I protest strenuously on behalf of all twilighters and antipodeans and transatlantic users who would be most put out. How terribly insular of you, QS.

cornsilk · 24/09/2009 05:46

I likes it at night I does. Ignore 'em MNHQ. Turn it off between 8.00 a.m. and 4.00.p.m. so that I don't miss anything when I'm at work.

QuintessentialShadow · 24/09/2009 08:33

Webdude I think I might be better off searching my local shops message board, for adult conversation within regular business hours, than the bbc website...

At least I might find a salsa class that suits, a second hand bicycle or a new cleaner. The bbc can give me neither.

I will however point my 7 year old in that direction, at least it is better for him than swooning at Lady GaGa on youtube.

The Internet should close at bedtime.

(And dont give me any parental control recommendations, it wont work as it makes my puter crash due to inherent obstinacy)

OOOh I think I win the deparaved night time posters bit- crawling downstairs at 3am after a 12.35 delivery to post that baby had arrived!

But please rise at @7am for the early starts, thanks

WebDude · 25/09/2009 00:29

LOL @ thumbwitch...

QS - heartily agree there's something lacking on the BBC discussion areas ... and it is probably freedom of speech, to some degree, since one could not repeat some of the language used in BBC drama.
