I think we asked about this a while ago, how would it really differ from using safari though? Wouldn't it amount to little more than a handy shortcut on the screen?

flatcapandpearls · 25/07/2009 22:00

You would not need to log in each time I suppose. Maybe straight to message board rather than home page. Not sure really.

Forget those iphone losers

nymphadora · 25/07/2009 22:06

While all the iphone people are here.... How do you make the applications wobble so you can rearrange them?

And how long does your battery normally last?

FlappyTheBat · 25/07/2009 22:09

I think this would be a good idea, would like to see the following features in any future app:

Once app is opened, you have a choice of options,

  1. Active Conversations
  2. Most popular discussions of the day/week
  3. Talk Round Up
  4. Tip of the day
  5. Whatever else would be a popular choice
  6. Possibly CAT

so basically what is on the Mumsnet Talk page but this might make life a bit quicker for those that use their iPhone to mumsnet?

MerlinsBeard · 25/07/2009 22:12

I am on dh's iPhone (long story!) but am finding it fine to use. Not really noticed much difference other than the touch screen obviously!

FlappyTheBat · 25/07/2009 22:15

nymphadora, press and hold the app until it wobbles, you'll also see a X on the apps as well, then just press app and drag to wherever you want it to go,

have made about 30mins worth of calls today and sent several pics via email and battery still showing 70% or 3.5 hours worth of calls, 4 hours on wifi, 16 hours of ipod usage.

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/07/2009 22:15

We asked for this a while ago, and MN said that they'd work on it, but since then they've included a question about who would use it in their census, so I guess they are still judging the need.

It's an app for all mobile phones that is needed, not just i-phones.

It needs to make the pages smaller to load - a single screen is in excess of 1.6mb, which makes it deathly slow.
Cut out the logos (fills the whole flippin screen!), remove all the extra boxes on the talk pages (eg the mumsnet latest one, which sometimes appears in the middle of the threads I'm on, or after the thread title but before the posts in a particular thread (v odd why it's sometimes there and sometimes on the right) as a bare minimum, and pref simplify the ads (obv I'd like them removed, but appreciate that as a business they prob need to stay).

BitOfFun · 25/07/2009 22:24

They are working on a mobile version I am reliably informed

nymphadora · 25/07/2009 22:25

Thanks have rearranged it now

My battery ran out today after charging last night for a couple of hours, was wondering if I hadn't charged enough or it runs out quickly anyway!

flatcapandpearls · 25/07/2009 22:31

I find when I am scrolling up and down a page I am always clicking on an advert, which then opens another page.
